Be a decent person.
I have moved seats in order to let a family sit together.
I pay the airline to get me from point A to point B and hope to person next to me is not chatty.
That’s all I expect.

Well if getting from point A to B is all you expect, that is fine...for you...If you pay for first class and get bumped out and don’t care, then that is your CHOICE.
Be a Decent Person...let the family sit together...
That should have been Ann’s CHOICE to “be a ‘Decent’ person” not the airlines’ decision. I rather suspect if asked nicely, Ann would have graciously changed seats...But being asked to voluntarily change is different than being reassigned to a smaller seat by the airline.
The teen (or older) pictured was not a child by any stretch. So for you to judge Ann or anyone else as not being decent is just ridiculous.
I am not an “indecent” person for wanting my seat and what I paid for. If I CHOSE to change, that is MY decision. Oh, I, too, have moved seats for CHILDREN to sit with their parents...
On one flight, an elderly man stole my seat...
He lied and said he “lost” his ticket...BS...how does one lose a ticket on the plane? Anyway,...I had a ticket with a seat number being occupied by another passenger...and no place to sit and was holding up everyone else behind me from boarding...the airline found me another seat—a better seat. That is what they should have done for Ann.
I pay the airline to get me from point A to point B. If I pay extra for certain amenities, it is reasonable for me to expect that I am going to receive those amenities.
As I said, airline should have upgraded her or found her another seat with legroom...
I think they rebooked her because the “family” bought higher priced tickets.
LOL! Putting on some headphones...whether or not there are batteries in the Walkman (Oh gosh, just dated myself), sometimes works.
In the past, they would ask, "smoking or non-smoking." I would suggest, "Talking or non-talking?" when they make seat assignments. ;)
