Canada does have birthright citizenship. It seems we and they are the last two countries on earth to have never repealed or modified it.

How come Trump said Cruz is eligible. Should we have a president who is that ignorant of the Constitution?

There are plenty of supposed experts on the Constitution that said that Cruz, or for that matter, Obama, was eligible simply by virtue of having a single American citizen parent. The term "natural born citizen" was never actually defined in the Constitution itself, and thus it is vulnerable to creative interpretation. Trump has probably been listening to one or more of the so-called experts who believe that "natural-born" means simply citizen at birth.

Having an incorrect interpretation of language two and a half centuries old is not the same as being ignorant. For all we know, Trump is extremely knowledgeable about this issue and the Constitution in general.

I don’t feel qualified to say whether Ted Cruz is 100% eligible to be president, but I do feel qualified to say that he is no more “Canadian” than Vlad Putin or the fat boy who runs North Korea.

To be Canadian I think you have to absorb our mind-numbing culture for at least twenty years, learn to appreciate Tim Hortons coffee, and know something about the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ted is probably 0 for 3 on those important tests, as would be this Aussie chick. To quote Austin Powers, she’s an Aussie, baby.

Oh, sorry. Almost fotgot.

So just renounce her Canadian citizenship.

Well, there’s a problem with foreign law determining the law in another sovereign state. Should the laws of foreign countries determine who is eligible to be POTUS?

Some seem to be making the argument that the US Constitution does grant such power to foreign law!

Having visited both Canada *and* Australia I can attest to the fact that the beaches Down Under are much better.Probably good enough reason to be shocked by such a discovery.

She should have had a clue when she couldn’t turn down a doughnut and was afraid of the dark.

>> “We dodged a bullet it seems.” <<

No, we didn’t have any ‘bullet’ to dodge.

Our Scotus cleared it up 200 years ago, but some here try to pretend that they didn’t.

If your parent was a US citizen, you are a natural born citizen, regardless of the location of your birth.

There is nothing to do but return to the US as an infant.

I call total Bravo Sierra on this.

My son was born in the United Kingdom of American Parents. I established his citizenship as a dual national of the UK and the United States. I did this so when he became an adult he could legally work in the EEC as a citizen of the UK and of course in the United States as a citizen of the USA. I went down to the the local Post Office and filled out a form and presented his English Birth Certificate. A few weeks later I had his United Kingdom passport. I did the exact same thing at the American Embassy in London but also presented the passports of myself and his mother. A few weeks later he also had an American passport.

He knew this as soon as he was able to understand why I did this.

She is lying! She did not want to give up her Canadian citizenship. That is what really happened. If this is not what happened her parents are idiots and I suspect they are not idiots.

He is ineligible.

Probably. He's as eligible as Obama. But that's not saying much.

Are you really that ignorant?

Cruz was born a US citizen, and could only reverse that by acting as a Canadian citizen, which he didn’t do.

Count Floyd played by Pittsburgh native Joe Flaherty.
An Homage to the late Chilly Billy Cardille, longtime host of Chiller Theater on Channel 11.

Though Cardille never dressed as a vampire.
