Go onto the American and Canadian prairies. The aboriginals used to drive bison off cliffs (”buffalo jumps”) to do a mass slaughter as part of their food gathering.
And practicing sustainable bison.... /sarc
and, according to early settlers (and Mark Twain), they would only take the choicest bits leaving the rest to rot, trusting in the Great Spirit to provide them fresh buffalo every year
