My take on it is that when the
First Green flag drops...
You Cannot hear the Cars
Over the Roaring Fans!
For actual weather yes...But for “anticipated” weather???
It might rain, so we stop a race???
I saw him race several times at Darlington. Always enjoyed watching him run.
It can Pour Buckets in minutes!
I seen small Rivers in the Front stretch.
Yes it (67 race) was rain delayed, we finished it next day. Fortunately, we drove instead of flying.
No, I said red flag for anticipated weather.
And the “Weepers”!
It takes hours to get That place
Ready to Race again.
They have had Tornadoes warnings
Stop That race.
Notorious!
We always had fun...Back then, there wasn’t as much money and all of crewmembers and drivers would go out in groups to clubs and such the couple of nights before the race and have a ball...
Most everyone stayed in motels and not the big motor homes they do today...
It was definitely the “good ole’ boys” back then...
Indy is designed for open wheel cars not stock cars. The stock cars tended to get strung way out and the skinny “groove” made for no passing and a boring race.
In yesterday’s Indy NASCAR “B” class race they cut 200 HP off the cars and gave them more downforce to tighten up the racing, which it did.
But NASCAR would be better off going somewhere else other than Indy. The Indy race is just dumb. Even the F-1 cars couldn’t attract a crowd.
10 years ago, the waiting list was in years to get a ticket for a Bristol race... they cant even sell it out now.
Cost, I suspect.
not even a thread on FR. 8-o
well, except yours. :-)
Does this race have the little potty breaks, and a chance for everyone to catch up?
The true irony..
Wasn’t NBC’s Dateline folks the network that trolled the crowd not so many years ago for haters of Islam??
Fox is carrying NHRA Drag Racing.
The suit’s haven’t ruined that yet.
Gotta love 10,000HP. Of course that figure the conventional thought since there are no Dyno’s that can handle them.
I agree ! I know I am turning into a fogie, but to my mind NASCAR has been stupid since restrictor plates and pit lane speed limits.
I remember when restrictor plates first came out...
We were at Daytona and during a practice round on Saturday, marty Robbins, the country music singer (and race car driver) had his plate taken out...
he went out for the practice and was blowing the doors off Richard Petty...Petty’s crew was atonished...They called Richard in and was going over the car trying to figure out the problem...
Robbins came in and finally, with a big grin on his face, told Petty what he’d done...
It was funny as could be...
Yes, the TV people keep glorifying Indy and trying to say this race is second only to Daytona in importance. I say that is nonsense. Look at the crowd today even before the rain. This is not big attendance by NASCAR standards. I would put Darlington and Talladega above Indy in importance.
