Why? What about all those bread crumbs floating around in the weightless environment? Who needs it?

Actually, this is a VERY valid topic, and I was about to bring it up myself.

Bread Crumbs were exactly what happened when John Young pulled out one from his spacesuit in Gemini 3. The crumbs can then get into equipment, or be inhaled, or get into astronaut's eyes.

Outer space is a real pain-in-the-ass environment.

Yes. I remember all the problems with "space food" in those early days if the astronaut program.
That's why NASA chose the Flour Tortilla as the "bread" for astronauts.

AND NO! Tang was Not "invented" for the space program!
