High-performance Ferrari 430 Scuderia was reduced to a twisted wreck
A Ferrari driver had a "miracle escape" when his £200,000 supercar careered off a motorway and burst into flames in a field - after owning it for just an hour.
The high-performance Ferrari 430 Scuderia was reduced to a twisted wreck following the prang on the M1 near junction 37 in South Yorkshire on Thursday afternoon.
South Yorkshire Police said on Twitter the driver lost control before the car "went airborne and burst into flames" in the wet conditions, but walked away with just cuts and bruises.
It went 50 metres down a bank and ended up in a field, where it caught fire and had to be extinguished by firefighters.

In a statement on Facebook police added: "Officers asked the driver what sort of car he 'had' to which he replied 'It was a Ferrari'.
"Detecting a sense of damaged pride he then said 'I've only just got it, picked it up an hour ago'."
They added: "Over the past couple of weeks there has been a number of collisions where driving styles have not reflected the road and weather conditions. Please take more care!"
That may not buff out...
A fool and his Ferrari are soon parted.
He’s lucky they weren’t joined permanently.
Learn to drive your car before pushing it to the limit.
What a moron.
This is happening more and more in an era where EFI and variable cam timing make monster motors
You beat me to it - was going to post “a fool and his money...” but thanks!
He either turned off the traction control and atability control, or he was doing tripple digits in the rain. It is hard to crash a ferrari with all the automatic tech it has on it.
I drove a friend’s Mid 1970’s vintage Ferrari 308 about a month while my car was getting major repair. It had the quickest steering of anything I have ever experienced. You sure had to be careful accelerating on a sharp curve.
He was a car collector and restored 63-67 Corvettes from about 1975 to the early 90’s. He had about thirty of them. He was a real car buff.
The sad end to the tale is that his wife lost control of the Ferrari. It wound up looking a lot like this one but she wasn’t Lucky enough to walk away from the wreck.
I’ve driven off the highway into fields, forests, swamps etc. a thousand times and my ride never burst into flames.
Of course I drive a Jeep, not a Ferrari :)
The 308 I had for a while started more reliably than the Wrangler I had.
Overheated less too. And didn’t do the front axle boogie after 9 months on new shocks.
Wonder if he had gap insurance.
Mind the gap.
Wife is lucky she didnt have to face the husband for totalling his ferarri.
Nice!
