Yes. Disrupted entire show. Following year format was different. LOL!

“The Galloping Gourmet” Graham Kerr”

Oh man, you hit the memory button with that. Used to watch that as a kid back in the 70’s

I like Guy. He seems like a guy I'd like to knock down burgers and brews with. Plus, when on the road it's fun to track down a joint he has plugged. Found a fantastic Mexican place in a strip mall in Phoenix that way.

So what he's not a gourmet chef from New York?

I agree with Gordon Ramsay. That guy needs a belt in the mouth more than anything. You’re a glorified cook, for cripes’ sake, not the Master of the Universe. Get over yourself.

On my bucket list....one long cross-country jaunt to visit every single diner, dive & drive-in ever reviewed by Guy Fieri.

I’m saving any that are drive-thru restaurants until the very end because, at that point, I won’t be able to roll out of the Suburban.

Anyone remember Justin Wilson - the cajun chef? Cay-Anne pepper!! Loved his show. And The Frugal Gourmet - Jeff Smith - until we found out the truth about him. Still have one of his cookbooks.

There's a guy on some British cooking show that looks a lot like Jeff Smith - though a bit shorter and stouter. Enough of a resemblance to make me do a double-take. I'd have to look up the name of the show - it seemed to be as much about travel as cooking.

As for Justin - of course I remember him. I grew up in New Orleans, where his show was broadcast on pre-cable PBS.

Lately, I've been enjoying "Cooking at Home" with Julia Child and Jacques Pepin. I think Jacques' primary task was to gently remind Julia which ingredients she needed to use, and otherwise keep the show on-track. Julia had by then lost whatever "filter" used to exist between her mind and her mouth, so her comments are often very amusing. One example: she complained at length about the outrageous prices of the ceramic-coated cast iron cookware. During the end credits, a list of the show's sponsors scrolls up - yup, Le Creuset was paying to be abused by Julia.

Now you did it.

I had met a very nice looking women a few years back and to make a long story short I ended up asking her out on a date.

She told me she was gay. Without thinking I asked her if she was sure. Then I realized what I said. LOL

She cracked up laughing. It felt like a Seinfeld episode.

Anyway she said I came the closest to tempting her. (grin)

I liked the Two Fat Ladies. They were pissers.

“Don’t forget to add the butter!”

The quail or pheasant hunting trip episode was great. Out there with shotguns blasting away.

Yes, the Two Fat Ladies were a one-off, nobody could replicate their show.

So what he's not a gourmet chef from New York?

A major point in his favor. A bit flamboyant, but that is show business I gather. No way they want a low-key personality.

Agree on having a few beers with him.

Gotta say, these “celebrity chef” shows and their “stars” are almost always boring and pretentious. The only two shows in that genre I even tolerated were Fieri’s “Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins” and Adam Richman’s “Man vs. Food”.

Why these two shows? They took us to real American places and showed us what real Americans eat. Were Adam and Guy over the top? Of course, that’s the way of American TV in the 21st Century. Deep down, however, they gave a voice to the mom and pop places where I’d want to sit down and have a nice meal without taking out a mortgage!

Sorry, but these “Continental” restaurants that are just a license to rip off the public don’t make it for me. Neither do these “sophisticated” recipes that require tens of ingredients and take hours to prepare.

I'd rather send my day tweeting or poking my eyes out.
I have NEVER tweeted.

I know two things about Fieri, his show is fun to watch and makes me want to visit that restaurant if I'm ever in the area. I also know his food sucks.

Bobby Flay is a tool and should be #3 on the list. Rachel Ray is a sad excuse for a human and comes in at #2. The biggest celebrity chef jerk, imho, is Anthony Bourdain. Nothing like an abusive alcoholic celebrity with an Grand Canyon sized ego. It's just food.

That's right. It was much less interesting the following year, and I lost interest.

Do they still do it?
