I used to play in numerous leagues in softball.
Usually catcher or 1st base.
Had a pretty accurate arm.
At 37, I finally quit my last team.
Ten years later, at a carnival, I do a throwing game.
I thought everything would be near the same.
After 3 throws I was wondering whose arm I had on, cause it sure didn’t FEEL like mine.
The old familiar feel wasn’t there.
No matter how I concentrated on the throw, the mechanics weren’t there.
After 6 balls, I felt my shoulder and elbow were trying to pull themselves apart.
If I ever were to throw a pitch at a game, I think I’d start throwing 2 weeks ahead of time.
15-20 feet to start
Funny, I’ve played every position many times in both baseball and softball over the years.... EXCEPT catcher! Just never had the slightest interest in playing catcher..... I guess I’m a wimp.
yeah, now at 57 yrs old if I try to throw anything I feel like my shoulder is going to fall off.... never had any specific damage that I am aware of, but my shoulder sure doesn’t want to let me throw anymore. Maybe if I tried to work back to it gradually, I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem to be “there”....
