May the ghosts of all those buried there haunt the mayor for the rest of his days.

There are no words in the English vocabulary that can begin to describe how I feel for the insane communist/socialist left.....
Short of outright shooting them, there’s got to be a way to stop this BS.

People forget the purpose of the monuments.

It’s to help avoid the next Civil War.

Eight years of Obama and not a peep about Civil War statues being an issue with anybody. Now it’s suddenly a thing. I’m sure the voters of Wisconsin who helped get Trump elected see right through this nonsense.

Barefoot farm boys, 18 and 19 years old, died in the cold, far, far from home. To a one they wished that there had been no war, and they could have lived out their lives back home, among their people.

It is highly doubtful that any one of these lads owned a slave. He would have been lucky to own his own horse, and to feed it, and feed himself, let alone feed "slaves".

What threat does this cemetery pose to anyone? It's a fact. it happened. A descriptive marker does not amount to advocacy. Shame on the people of Wisconsin who allow this mockery of truth. Sorry to those who have to live there under this sort of tyranny.

Erasing History.

The plaque to be removed explains the origin of the cemetery and who lies buried there.

WHAT A DICK MOVE!

Just a rancid little prick trying to get in on the story!

To do that at a cemetery just goes beyond ghoulish!

VFW and American Legion should take this one on.

Not those damned Nazis.

In 1951 the US Congress passed and POTUS signed a law that makes ALL Confederate States Veterans United States Veterans.

This is like defacing a VA cemetery.

Whose army could “repatriate” the bodies?

Actually, many were never identified beyond their uniforms to tell which army they were in. Also, the origin of modern embalming practices came with the Civil War, when the authorities tried to get the hundreds of thousands of bodies back to their families.

Exactly. The communist little prick of a mayor should be sued for defacing a VA cemetery. I believe this would be a Federal felon offense? Sue the crap out of the little piece of shite.

“They need to change the name of the city from Madison to Trotsky.”

Better give hizzoner the mayor a little time. Soon he will find out that James Madison was another of those Virginians that owned slaves. How can he sleep at night, knowing that he is mayor of a town named after such a tyrant?

"This is like defacing a VA cemetery."

It seems to me like Madison, Wisconsin, is breaking the law ...

"Congressional Act of 9 March 1906

We Honor Our Fallen Ancestors

(P.L. 38, 59th Congress, Chap. 631-34 Stat. 56)

Authorized the furnishing of headstones for the graves of Confederates who died, primarily in Union prison camps and were buried in Federal cemeteries.

Remarks: This act formally reaffirmed Confederate soldiers as military combatants with legal standing. It granted recognition to deceased Confederate soldiers commensurate with the status of deceased Union soldiers."

Digging up the bodies is on hold pending the next big news cycle on the subject.

After that they will have a separate ceremony burning the remaining ashes.

Liberal tolerance at its finest!

“The plaque to be removed explains the origin of the cemetery and who lies buried there.”

Because God forbid that anyone should be able to learn that:

1) The North and the South fought a war against each other;

2) Sometimes the Northerners won a battle;

3) When the Northerners won a battle, they didn’t automatically execute every surrendering Southerner (yeah, I know, that’s utterly horrifying - that they didn’t just execute them out of hand);

4) Confederate POWs were brought to prison in Wisconsin;

5) Some of those prisoners died in Wisconsin; and

6) The Northerners holding them as prisoners had the simple human decency to give them a permanent resting place (maybe even with a religious ceremony - OH, THE HUMANITIES!!!!).

After all, the Earth might spin off of its axis if people learned all of those things.

What an utter ass Paul Soglin is - but, apparently, the people of Madison are about the same, else why would they have elected this moron, this idiot, this ignoramous extraordinaire.

Compare their character to that of the Mayor.

This is evil in its purest form.

This equates to nothing more than Nazi’s burning books trying to erase history or to redefine history based on their failed views that historically never work. Socialist / Democrats / Liberal Marxists trying just “One More Time” to rule the masses because “they know better”. This time around, Americans have guns and a few billion rounds earmarked for these punks. I hope they don’t push the envelope too far and simply stay in their Berkley’s destroying their own infrastructure and buildings. Let’s pray for Trump.

It’s beginning to look more and more like Civil War 2.0 may actually just be a continuation of the original.
