They are trying to negotiate as well. That’s an opening bid. No big deal.

So Canada and Mexico are demanding that US labor wages be higher than they already are? That is a smart tactic on their part. “Sure, we’ll renegotiate NAFTA. Just make your labor wages higher and your business model more complicated so we keep a competitive advantage.”

Only an Obama supporter would agree to a deal like that.

"The request is part of a push by Ottawa to get the U.S. and Mexico to adopt higher labour standards under the deal"

"Higher Labour standards" = More forced political power for the leftist agenda.

Dat dare is whut dis is a boat.

End NAFTA. The Mexicans and Canadians are so much better than citizens of the USA, they should be able to do great without us.

Even I laughed at this. They must be opening with a joke to add some levity to the discussions. So embarrassing.

Title: “Canada demands the USA adopt socialism.”

We need to get rid of NAFTA. It was nothing but a sell-out of American jobs to Mexico and adoption of ridiculous regulations for Canada.

Canadian negotiators are demanding the United States roll back so-called "right to work" laws

Doubt it.

Far as I know, right to work is a state issue, not federal.

The US Federal government doesn’t have the Constitutional authority to do that. Not even in a treaty.

Constitutionally a treaty can do exactly that.

Both Canada and Mexico need to understand it is the US that will make demands.

Access to the US market is the ONLY PRIZE in this deal. If the US cuts the access of either country, they completely collapse.

Their respective GDP will be cut in half, at least.
