All antivirus programs are “compromised” in different ways. One has to wonder why Kaspersky (for example) was the only firm to highlight and identify Stuxnet and other viruses, while western companies politely ignored them. I have no doubt they’d shut up about viruses originating from the Russian security services, but the reverse is also true with regard to western firms and western viruses. Overlapping defense is the best strategy.

That can use a lot of computing power to run multiple defenses. I chose the Linux Mint option once I retired and was no longer tied to Windows.
