No, Trump did not cave

UPDATE: From the Daily Caller just now: "House Agrees To $1.6 Billion For Border Wall."

ORIGINAL POST: The media crashed and burned last night over a Democratic Party lie about a deal on amnesty for some illegal aliens.

After a dinner with the president, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer said, “We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

There is no deal. The president said so this morning. Pelosi and Schumer jumped the gun because they hope to gain leverage in a situation in which the president holds the trump card.

Everybody who panicked about this Fake News was a fool. That includes Representative Steve King, a Republican from Iowa, whom I like.

A lie travels around the world before the truth puts its shoes on.

People who railed against President Trump for "caving" made two mistakes.

They believed Pelosi and Schumer. They believed the media.

Me? I trusted President Trump.

I read their statement and knew it was a lie, or to be kind, an embroidery of the truth.

The reason tip-off were the words, "excluding the wall."

Of course the wall was excluded.

It's off the table.

President Trump has authorization for it. A 2006 law made it so. He is not going to relinquish that authority.

But there is no Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals law. It does not exist. DACA is an executive order, at best a blanket use of prosecutorial discretion.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions called it as unconstitutional.

Trump let the Pelosi-Schumer lie slide until this morning. He literally lost no sleep over it because their lie helps him in negotiations, and that is what they are doing: negotiating.

The only agreement they came to was what to talk about.

He made it plain to them that the wall is not negotiable.

Today, he tweeted:

"No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote. The WALL, which is already under construction in the form of new renovation of old and existing fences and walls, will continue to be built."

Got that? The wall is off the table.

Pelosi and Schumer's bargaining position is weak. They are in the minority.

But they do have a position, and they seem to be surrogates for Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. Either man could stop a floor vote on any agreement

They won't.

This is a do-nothing Congress. Donald Trump's is a very active presidency. Contrast and compare. Congress needs leadership. Trump will provide it.

Meanwhile, anyone who said he caved on the wall is a fool.

We heard nothing about the wall being part of the deal until this article. Even the President said the wall would be coming in the near future after DACA. I heard him say that with my own ears.

This might be a new deal after the president saw his base melt down over the amnesty for the million “kids” and their criminal relatives. Or it might just be a lie.

Allowing illegality to continue requires a “winding down period”??

DACA is not illegal. The courts have not ruled on it. Read Kris Kobach's review of the issue made before Trump rescinded DACA and why he had to make a decision before September 5.

An important deadline is approaching for the Trump Administration. By September 5, President Trump must decide whether or not to repeal President Obama’s DACA (“Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals”) executive amnesty for illegal aliens.

The deadline was set by ten States, whose attorneys general (or governor, in the case of Idaho) wrote to Attorney General Jeff Sessions demanding an end to the illegal amnesty. The States are Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Louisiana, Kansas, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia. If DACA is not terminated, the States will take the Trump Administration to court.

Obama's second Executive Order amnesty was challenged and stopped in the courts. When Obama issued the 2012 DACA amnesty, the Reps and the states were silent. Only a few Senators and Congressmen spoke out against it. The dirty little secret is that both parties wanted it. In fact, Eric Cantor was about to release a GOP version of the Dream Act just after his primary with Dave Brat. I worked with the Brat campaign to get that word out. Cantor's defeat stopped the Gang of 8 amnesty that had already passed the Senate with 14 Rep senators voting for it. It contained the Dream Act among other things.

We’re working on a plan subject to getting massive border control.

We’re working on a plan for DACA. People want to see that happen. You have 800,000 young people brought here no fault of their own so we’re working on a plan, we’ll see how it works out. But we’re going to get massive border security as part of that, and I think something that happened, we’ll see what happens but something will happen.

[hurricane related comments]

The wall will come later. We’re right now renovating large sections of wall massive sections making it brand new. We’re doing a lot of renovation. We’re building four different samples of the wall to see which one we’re going to choose and the wall is going to be built. It’ll be funded a little bit later.

Well we want to get massive border security and I think that both Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, I think they agree with it. But so we met last night with as you know Schumer, Pelosi, and a whole group and I think we’re fairly close but we have to get massive border security

Oh I think he’s on board. Yeah Mitch is on board Paul Ryan’s on board. We all feel - look 92% of the people agree on DACA but what we want is we want very very powerful border security.

Ryan and McConnell agree with us on DACA.

Trump has said that they won't receive citizenship.

And they don't need amnesty since they didn't break any law, their parents did.

Trump could not be more clear.

He, Pelosi, Schumer, Ryan, McConnell are all on board for amnesty.

I live on the border, deal with the issues every day. I am willing to see this play out.

I did not get excited when the word was out about all this because well it is Pelosi, and Schumer, and the media. They do all lie, and more often lies than they have any truth.

I also want to remind everyone, just because the media is not reporting something that doesn’t mean it is not happening.

His base didn’t “melt down.” According to a poll which Rush quoted today, 2/3rds of Trump’s base support his position.

BOY! Do we ever!
The difference between one group (New Flakes) versus the other (Old Flakes) is shown only in how dingy, grimy they appear to us. Mop up needed in the aisles.

And they don't need amnesty since they didn't break any law, their parents did.

They are in the country illegally. It is against the law to be here illegally. They need to obtain legalization to stay and work here.

NB: DACA regulations do not require that you be brought here by your parents. Many of these "children", some now 36 years old, came here unaccompanied as teenagers. Their parents did not bring them here.

DACA recipients are illegal under federal law. “DACA” is illegal.

They were brought here by their parents and raised here.

They have not done anything illegal.

Now, this should be addressed on a case by case basis.

I would have no problem with them receiving green cards, but no citizenship.

Some common sense has to be used in this situation.

DACA recipients are illegal under federal law. “DACA” is illegal.

It wasn't challenged in the courts. The USG issued official ID cards. DACA has been rescinded and now phased out. It is not illegal in terms of enforcement. The recipients have been issued work permits and SSNs.

Obama took an unconstitutional action but he was not challenged in the courts. Hence, it is not illegal.

Good luck with that.

Congress has exclusive authority over immigration. The Executive has only that which Congress has by law delegated to it, such as the “travel ban” which temporarily restricted entry from terrorist nations.

Exactly. Not likely we can trust the media OR the d’rats in anything they say. To hear nothing positive ..who’s surprised to find no one is discussing any words from these two groups supporting our agenda.

Like, you, waiting for the final gun to be fired before making any rash conclusions. Our President continues to have my full support. He brought us this far and I’ll be content to allow him to lead awaiting the final outcome.
