C'mon people now...

I was in about the 3rd grade when I first heard this song.

It was one of the few reasons 1969 didn't suck entirely

Best early Christian song. It definitely planted some seeds in me that bore fruit. Jesus is my Savior and Lord.

I'll be getting back to you on that one. As a 3rd grader you would not be aware of the time. I need a few minutes to get the info to inform you.

This song along with White Rabbit to me are the anthems of my generation.

I tick before my time. Not much just a tick. I have always loved this song. (and the band)

Not related to anyone in the group, but I love the name.

Just add the appropriate vowels to my handle. :)

>>As a 3rd grader you would not be aware of the time.

I was aware enough.

School mates who had sisters who ran off-topic be hippies, brothers who went off to other places. Our class was one of the first to get token “integration” - with one black girl and one black boy.

And gatherings where members of the extended LEO family I grew up in talked about... everything.

Yeah, I was 13 and about to discover all of the bad things that teenagers can get in to. I succeeded in that quest.

No, I would say “Like a Rolling Stone” was the anthem of the generation.

“It was one of the few reasons 1969 didn’t suck entirely”

Well, there was Abbey Road that year...

For me, I would have to include 1967's "For what it's worth" by the Buffalo Springfield to those two.

The Beatles were not on the radio stations my dad tuned in to.

But, then I had an aunt who gave me a transistor radio... a Viking langship to explore the waves and strange shores.

>>I succeeded in that quest.

Kids my age were not far behind. “Dazed and confused”... strategically.

Very thankful for my parents and the little seeds of wisdom they planted for when they were not there.

Many of my peers were not so fortunate.

I had a little transistor radio then too...the sound was terrible for the kind of deeply layered music that was coming out then...but you got the melody anyway.

My two older brothers and I didn’t’ have any parents in the home, at least not at night. My divorced mother had to work to make ends meet and we were all latchkey kids.

Kinda like looking at the moon through the telescope I got from the Montgomery Ward catalogue that year.

Just enough detail to engage a curious imagination.

LOL...had one of those too...60x. Great for the moon really, and Venus and some stars were fuzzy gray blobs.
