THIS THIS is a favorite topic of mine !
I have 6 piercings in my ears. 3 in each. I’m a man, in my 40s and semi-retired. I run my own business, work for my wife’s business and have a young daughter.
First:
Tattoos signify commitment issues.
If you get a tattoo, yes - it’s permanent. But it’s not you that keeps it permanent. You don’t really have a choice. If you get a piercing, then it’s a commitment. You have to be committed to keeping it open and full of some junk jewelry.
Piercings that stink : This comes and goes. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. It’s completely different for everyone. If it stinks, you should let it close up and look elsewhere for an expression of how you want to be different... just like everyone else.
I have two holes in my ears that stank. I had to do special things to address it, or let them go. I spent over a year properly treating the holes because I was dedicated to having the jewelry.
My jewelry is custom. It cost about $300 to fill up with a specific pattern and I have to think about that pattern. Most people, like most Tattoo recipients, just walk in and pick from a catalog without doing ANY thought, feeling or justification behind them. These people wind up with stinky holes and simply boring piercings. Yawn.
I wonder where Tattoos are on the Bell Curve of success? Is it an upper class thing? It must be, considering the cost of them. There are some who would spend more on tattoos and then complain about medical coverage costs.
That ship has sailed
Not all
The only tattoo/piercing any of my now adult (30-something) offspring have is one pierce in each of my daughter’s ears. They are clearly a minority among their peers. I feel very fortunate!!
Brainwashing little toddlers to change their genders. Piercing babies’ ears. Kids getting tats. Abortion is great. Plastic surgery out of control. Such a sick sad time to be living when people have so much hate of their bodies. People should wake up and admit it is self hate.
There are people that can have the right tattoo and still appear respectable, IMO. Soldiers and Veterans with their combat insignia’s and such, done tastefully, shows some pride and is, to some extent, a bit of marketing for their character (or can be).
I do not object to ALL tattoos. I object to the Random, “look at my body art” type of tattoo and the “Look how different I am” crap. I don’t think tattoos should be conversation starters at a funeral, for instance. There are some white collar jobs you can expect to not get hired for if your have tats on your face. Obnoxious tattoos advertises what a poor decision maker a person is, IMO.
As an example, A former colleague of mine was in a special forces unit in Afghanistan at the start of the war. He has a well placed, very tasteful military tattoo that he and his fellow warriors all agreed on. It’s high on his arm and you would never see it unless he was dressed casually (sleeveless) or showed you. Some of his buddies didn’t make it and he spent a great deal of time recovering from some serious battle wounds.
THAT tattoo means a lot to him and the guys he fought with. It also reminds me that some of these warriors are among us earning a living just like us but have been somewhere and done something for us that we would otherwise not think enough often enough. I certainly can appreciate why he has it. And his character is deserving of the respect emblazoned on his upper arm.
Mine got one and I told her it showed the world her IQ had dropped 50 points. I never saw it again.
I am 72 ,,,, when I was young my parents asked me to not get tattooed ,,, I respected their wishes because I loved them and respected their wish .

‘I dont get the desire to have body art.’
I preach heavily against tattoos in my home. I don’t see the appeal and think they are incredibly ugly.
Tattoo - The Who
Me and my brother were talking to each other
About what makes a man a man
Was it brain or brawn, or the month you were born
We just couldn’t understand
[Bridge]
Our old man didn’t like our appearance
He said that only women wear long hair
[Verse 2]
So me and my brother borrowed money from Mother
We knew what we had to do
We went downstairs, past the barber and gymnasium
And got our arms tattooed
[Pre-Chorus]
Welcome to my life, tattoo
I’m a man now, thanks to you
[Chorus]
I expect I’ll regret you
But the skin graft man won’t get you
You’ll be there when I die
Tattoo
[Verse 3]
My dad beat me because mine said “Mother”
But my mother naturally liked it and beat my brother
Cause his tattoo was of a lady in the nude
And my mother thought that was extremely rude
[Pre-Chorus]
Welcome to my life, tattoo
We’ve a long time together, me and you
[Chorus]
[Outro]
Now I’m older, I’m tattooed all over
My wife is tattooed too
A rooty-toot-toot, rooty-tooty-toot-toot
Rooty-toot-toot tattoo too
To you
Waiting for the inevitable news story connecting tattoo ink to cancer...
If you have the money, invest in the tattoo removal business. Beautify America.
They look even uglier on brides in white strapless gowns and nose rings are just plain repulsive.
A neighbor’s adult son couldn’t find a job until his mother told him to wear long sleeves to cover up the tats. He did and finally got a job. Sadly, he hasn’t learned the lesson no one wants to be around such.
I know a woman who went with her twins to all get matching tats and boob piercings when they turned 18. There’s something very sick about that.
People change their hairstyles and insist they can’t wear the same thing twice but then they cover themselves with permenant tatooes.

I don’t understand what a cutting in the flesh for the dead actually means.
Great. Now I can’t be Jewish. And I so wanted to control the international monetary supply.
That hasn't been true since before I was born.
