Yeah, the suits messed badly with the first film.
It still worked well, though. The theatrical release was not nearly as deep as the director’s cut, but there were some touches that were forced by time & budget constraints from the studio money guys that made it better to moviegoers.
Those touches were missing from the director’s cut, which is a shame, but the resulting movie was much more thought-provoking and less trite.
With all that said, I like the looks and feels of the sequel. It looks to be worth the money.

The voice-over in Blade Runner absolutely made it for me. A sci-fi thriller with a the feel of 1940’s film noir; Brilliant!
I bought and watched the director’s cut, and once again my belief was reinforced that the film director and film editor should never be the same person.
