I know nothing about football, but have American teams always played in London? Seems odd.

They have been doing this for years(they've done this in Mexico City as well). They are trying to get people in the UK interested enough in American football to have an expansion team in London. It won't work and is a dumb idea, but, as you have seen, the people who run the NFL aren't all that smart.

There was a game in London last Sunday, too. It involved the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens most famous player is a guy named Ray Lewis (now retired). Lewis was standing on the sidelines in London and took a knee with the current Ravens players during the anthem. This is relevant because Lewis is an actual murderer of black men. I didn't see it of course, but it would have been a stunning act of hypocrisy to behold.
