In addition, Sean Young was the best looking member of the cast.

The production of Blade Runner suffered from numerous delays and snags. Harrison Ford was miserable during shooting because Ridley Scott insisted on working at night with the set usually drizzling and damp, which led to Ford developing a bronchial infection. Notably, a labor agreement kept the set designers on payroll and working even while the start of shooting was delayed. The result was that the set designers added more and more detail to create a dark, compelling, and deeply imagined look that made Blade Runner an enduring influence on the design of science fiction productions. The previous standard of clean and bright set designs for science fiction fell out of favor after Blade Runner.

Dave Bautista is impressing more and more. He can do comedy, which is not easy. He can do drama. He should step up to a leading role.

OK!

I went and saw it.

The theater was about 20% full, which would normally be pretty bad for a first-run, but at 10 PM on a Sunday night - not too bad. Plus, I saw the standard version, there was running at the same time the 3D version, I have no idea how many people were at that one, but the couple in line in front of me bought 3D tickets...

It seemed as though it took a while to get going. Well, that’s after the first happening to Sapper... but it did seem long.

Then, when it got going, at first I wasn’t sure who was good and who was bad. Remember that in the original, ANY replicant on Earth was illegal and marked for extermination. Well this is not so cut and dried. I’ll just leave it at that.

It was loaded with views of the cars flying and arial shots of LA. I wish they had spent some more time on the shots of the environment, but I guess you can only fit so much into a movie.

The sound was excellent. a few times, a bit too loud, but overall was very nice. It seemed to me that maybe Vangelis’s theme was played at low volume in the background... until the end.

You are not sure who lives or dies. Or who SHOULD live or die! At first, I was a bit confused by that, but it works out in the end.

Goslings acting was superb! In fact all the actors were first rate. The only thing that seemed wrong was the casting of Robin Wright as Yoshi, I still think they could have made a better choice.

The ending is OUTSTANDING! As I watched the movie, I kept thinking about the Rutger Hauer speech and wondering how they could end this pic as effectively.

But they did it. I will probably not see it in the theater again, but will buy the DVD asap!

There are alot of questions raised by this movie... I won’t ask or answer any of them here... but GO AND SEE IT, you will not be disappointed!

Probably too late for the recommendation, but the 3D, enhanced sound system is well worth the price and really adds to the experience. I went to something called
Regal 3D RPX which was well worth the experience and very different from a standard screening. BR 2049 will not be the same on streaming video or standard TV. It will not be the same for those waiting for regular broadcasts.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe"

Perhaps the 2nd greatest monologue of all time in cinema, after the Indianapolis monologue from Jaws.

One of the best I’ve seen in years.

For anyone planning to see it, shell out the extra cash and see it in IMAX 2D. Even though it’s not 3D, it’s worth it.

In that environment, if you’re not shaking after the last fight scene, you have no conscience.

Saw it yesterday in 3D. It is a visual masterpiece but overall a letdown. The original just has tons more soul. Reminds me of the TRON reboot.

Two other female leads Mackenzie Davis and Sylvia Hoeks are also great. Mackenzie had a bit part in the Martian, you will recognize her. Sylvia is a new face.

I just learned Robin Wright, Officer K's boss, was the Princess in Princess Bride.

>> BR 2049 is a film for all time in cinematography and music.

Indeed the film was excellent. Hans Zimmer (et al) did an outstanding job on the soundtrack.

Doubtful we’ll see another Ridley Scott in our lifetime.

I made the mistake of paying six bucks to see BR on DirectTV. An hour in, I’m bored to tears. The movie is mostly eerily orchestrated dead moments leading to nothing. Critics seemed mostly to laud it for its faithfulness to the original.

That’s a silly metric. It has to stand on its own, and this doesn’t.
