FULL TITLE:Vice President Mike Pence LEAVES Indianapolis Colts game after several San Francisco 49ers took a knee during the national anthem - and Trump tweets that it was at his request

Vice President Mike Pence left Sunday's National Football League game between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers after several 49ers took a knee during the playing of the national anthem.

'I left today’s Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem,' Pence said in a statement that the White House quickly pushed out to reporters.

Soon after Pence exited the game, Trump took credit for it being his idea.

'I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen,' Trump wrote on Twitter.

With his swift stadium exit, Pence reignited the fight between the administration and the NFL that had quieted down in recent days, replaced in the news cycle by the hurricane in Puerto Rico and the shooting in Las Vegas, along with Trump's high-profile tiffs with his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who the president knocked on Twitter today.

It would have been nice if all the fans left the stadium with Pence.

Soldiers in uniform salute if they are outside, stand at attention inside.

That’s correct. Just like in the base movie theater.

Folks, it’s ALWAYS been this way for the military when inside.

Every base/post/station that has a movie theater plays the National Anthem before the movies or previews. Everyone is required to stand at attention. No saluting.

Look at this crowd. Not a single kneeler.

The fans rock; it’s the players and owners who suck. Oh, and the NFL leadership really sucks!

I wouldn’t care if it is a stunt. Taking a knee is a stunt. Fight fire with fire.

I think if North Korea bombs us, the military should take a knee and let the NFL handle it.

Why was he even at an NFL game is the real question.

****************

The Vice President is traveling to Las Vegas on Saturday, where he will participate in a unity prayer walk.

President Mike Pence is headed to Indianapolis to attend the Colts game and Peyton Manning’s halftime ceremony.

Following the game, Pence will travel to California where he will participate in a tax reform event.

...So I guess he missed the half time Manning ceremony....
