OK then. I’ll play if/when you get this going. Maybe 2018? Sounds like fun.

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face- Yes, I know this was a song, but the song lyrics read like a beautiful poem. This song was written as a love poem/song in 1957 by a British singer named Ewan MacColl for his love, Peggy Seeger.

Interesting fact; it did not really become a mega hit for Flack until Clint Eastwood chose it for a love scene in his movie, ‘Play Misty for Me’.
From then on, it hit the charts, stayed there and won ‘song of the year’.

Yes, the lyrics are sensual.
They are deeply passionate and moving.
How he must have loved this woman!

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Ewan MacColl

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the end of the skies

And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last, till the end of time, my love

The first time ever I saw your face
Your face
Your face
Your face...

(sigh) What happened to singers like Roberta Flack and songs with lyrics that made sense?

I’d like to hear some other’s opinions on this and opinions of this song. (please?)

Katy

Thanks. That song is known among guitar nerds as an early example of amplifier distortion.

Having visited the Sun Record Studios in Memphis and photographed my wife at the actual mike they used, I couldn’t resist taking in the production of The Million Dollar Quartet.

The production is of course a re enactment but the parts of Jerry Lee, John Cash, Elvis and Carl Perkins were very well done and the foundation for what followed very well laid

If you get a chance....... go see it
