Saw jackie Chan movie "the Foreigner".

Interesting side note: he has ben off and on the highest paid actor in the world, mainly due to huge success China, plus his big hits in US.

Movie was interesting since some of it was in mandarin with subtitles. Tthe rest takes place in Ireland.

Movie itself is a tried and true formula: terorists kill the daughter of just some regular nobody guy running a Chinese restaurant in London. Except-oh oh- he isn’t a regular guy but a retired special forces guy with bomb making, survival, firearms, kung fu, etc etc.

Couple good plot twists and the movie is helped a lot by an awesome performance by Piecrce Brosnan. Great example of a well done totally formulaic escape picture.

I recommend it if you like these type of "good guy gets pushed too far and delvers awesome ass-kicking" type movies. Charles Bronson made a bunch and i love every one. Jackie Chan delivers a classic here.

Even my wife liked it, had to really twist arm to get her to go, but go she did and liked it. Then we went out to Gott's for killer double cheeseburger, sweet potato fries and onion rings.

All in all a pleasant evening after a tough week.

I met Jackie Chan at a function when I lived in HK. I generally enjoy his movies.

Even his Chinese movies are good. Shaolin aka kung fu chef was very enjoyable.

“Even his Chinese movies are good.”

Understatement of the year.

If you only know Jackie Chan through his rather wretched American movies (like... shudder, “Rush Hour”) you don’t know Jackie Chan.

And... rule #1... never buy American copies of his Chinese films. They’re usually butchered.

Great movie I guess. Where there are no Muslim terrorists and all the evil white men get killed go Jackie Chan. Liam Neeson’s “Taken” is probably better without ressuecting a decades old conflict rather than insulting the “religion of peace”. Pardon punctuation, in a hurry this morning

Gotta ask... After you’ve watched the movie...do you have cravings to watch it again in an hour? Ha!

The commercials have been enticing...looking forward to seeing this movie. Thanks for the confirmation.

Jackie Chan has churned out some great action comedies. The ads for this one looked good.

Exactly.

Jackie Chan is a straight up communist. No support from me ever.

I’m tired of supporting all of the people and institutions that want to destroy my country and my way of life.

Why are you supporting a high profile anti-American like Jackie Chan?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2013/01/10/the-anti-americanism-of-jackie-chan/

He takes your money and uses it to ridicule you.

It's too bad Jackie Chan is a rabid anti-American A-hole.

If you MUST see one of his movies, be sure to pirate it using Tor and Bit Torrent so he doesn't make any money.

From the Washington Post, no less: The Rabid Anti-Americanism of Jackie Chan

Americans know Jackie Chan best for his cheery, acrobatic
performances in action movies such as "Rumble in the Bronx" and "Rush
Hour," made successful by his amazing martial artistry and self-effacing
comedy. Chinese know Chan, a Hong Kong native, for largely the same
reasons. But they also know him for something most Americans might
find surprising: He is passionately political, a staunch defender of the
Chinese Communist Party and harsh critic of anyone he sees as
opposing Beijing. Today, that includes the United States.

Saw it last night. Brosnan utters a bunch of F-bombs throughout the movie.

I used to enjoy his movies. Then I read about his attitude toward America and his firm communist beliefs. That ended any interest in his movies. He wasn’t so funny after that.
