“Ive heard that homeowners cant even clear out snake and rodent infested fire hazard foliage around their homes.”

Have a friend who lives in San “Remote” Ramone. Says the same thing.

You had to be here to believe this thing. Hell fire unleashed. How all of these fires started at once? They say it was the wind and power lines. People got out of their residential homes, vineyard homes, apartments, condos with the clothes on their backs. Vines, structures animals all reduced to powder ( and some humans). Large commercial building totaled. Things are winding down but firefighters will be here for the rest of the month. Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Mendocino counties owe so much to these brave firefighters, chopper pilots, bomber pilots, sheriffs, police, secret service and volunteers. who worked 24 hour
shifts and some longer. I still am blown away by the 747 borade bombers.

Depends upon how mature the vines and how fast the fire ran over them. If the vines themselves ignited and smoldered, well, not good.

There was lots of rain last winter meaning lots of vegetation. It doesn’t rain in the summer meaning lots of tinder dry fuel laying around. Only takes a spark to set it all going.

You can cut the top of the vine and reconnect it with vine branches from another vine yard if the roots are humid enough to not have died. A,l the French vine yards died of Philoxera a while back and they cut them off and put American stems on them. So, French wine is really American on top with french roots.

“So, you’re just as screwed up and filled with hate as that other idiot. There are over 40 dead and likely many more and you dance on their graves - seek professional help before you hurt yourself or any loved ones, if you have any.”

Sorry that irony is lost on you, See my comment #51.

I’m sure that these wineries are in violation of Jerry Browns CO2 standards. Citations and fines should follow pronto.

All that air pollution being released into the California air from mother nature. How sad. Too bad.

Can't blame mother nature . Morons.

Trees are nice.Wall to wall trees with no thinning whatsoever has unintended consequences.

The destruction of the California lumber industry, and the sky-high cost of housing was just a deliberate free bonus.

Stupid is as stupid does.

The state of CA is only interested in tax revenue, which should have a huge impact on said revenue. Such an event this expansive has not occurred in my lifetime, so it will be interesting to see the recovery.

Very weird photos. What's with all the portraits of the winery owners? Show the devastation. Photos of a burnt building and the owner don't tell the story very well.

I am so looking forward to hi-res aerial photos from Google earth.

There already exists ongoing coverage as a matter of constant updating, but the documentation of the incredible damage must be as thorough as possible.

There is something referred to as "post-identification" which is useful to re-establish property boundaries, fences, etc.

Also, all National Public Land Survey Monuments need to be confirmed for accuracy, even if now in private ownership.

Anybody know if Frank Family Vineyards has been damaged?

Their Red Zinfandel and Rouge sparkling wine are outstanding LPR’s!

vineyards served as highly effective fire breaks

Which destroys their current meme that the increased rains this year caused more vegetation to grow which in turn caused worse fires. No. Healthy green vegetation with clear from debris rows between the vines helped prevent fires. It's all that dead underbrush they didn't clear out that caused the problem.

I've heard the winery buildings didn't have fire sprinklers. The owners should have been watering down the buildings long before the fire came anywhere close. Who knew alcohol burned!

Not a single speck of soot on any of their freshly laundered shirts. Nice clean hands, too. Guess they're too good to start the clean up.

5,700+ structures lost with hundreds missing and 40 dead.
The liberals in California blocked brush and tree clearance.
This is the result.
