Disaster Movie ‘Geostorm’ Fails To Thunder With $13.3M Opening: Here’s Why
Deadline Hollywood ^ | October 22, 2017 | Anthony D'Alessandro

The tagline for one of Geostorm‘s billboards: “Some Things Were Never Meant to Be Controlled.” You might think that saying refers to the disaster movie’s exorbitant estimated $120M-$140M budget, or its three-year production cycle, or even its horrendous domestic box office start of $13.3M.

Prefer aliens and monsters reeking havoc then some weather control system going rogue. Gerard Butler needs to find another movie involving leather underwear.

People just assume now that if Hollywood made it, it will be filled with angry Leftist messaging...so they choose to wait for more user reviews, and then buy the film two years later from the $7.00 Blu-ray basket at Walmart. :)

Proud to say I haven’t been to a ‘movie’ since 2003.

Because the title insinuates another AGW fraud.

Someone told me the latest Sharknado was more believable.

“People just assume now that if Hollywood made it, it will be filled with angry Leftist messaging...”

Very true.

Either way, the actors involved in movies, Butler excluded from the rest, have made such insulting remarks that many people have decided to ignore the entire entertainment industry.

Why should they support a group of people who fancy themselves as the arbiters of moral and political correctness when some of the most verbose have intellects on par with lettuce.

My wife wanted to see it. We had an empty night for a date night. She had some gift cards to make it “free”. We went and saw it.

I don’t recommend it. If you are curious, wait a few weeks and it will show on TNT. It was bad. Here is my review:

About 15 minutes into it, I couldn’t figure out whether it was bad writing or horrible acting. At about 20 minutes I decided that it was the script and the directing. The relationship between the brothers was a mess and the dialogue was total B-movie rate. Even the relationship between the main character and his Secret Service GF was corny. I can see where the plot looks (typically bad) makeable to market a movie. But the dialogue, the directing.... Everything was just off. It was too dramatic in many parts where the basis of the drama wasn’t established..... The whole movie was a mess.

All that said, I RARELY go to movies. This might be the first one in 4 or 5 years.

On the way out, I heard someone comment, “They should have added sharks and put it in the Sharknado series.” That about summed it up.

The neighbor used to get free movie tickets. He stopped trying to give them away a couple years ago. No one wanted them.

“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”

That was what the corporate accountants were screaming when they saw the opening day proceeds.

Yeah, I saw the trailer for this one and it sounded like a bad Saturday Night Sci-Fi Channel movie. Approximately, “Sharknado” without the high standards and all of the celeb cameos.

Some of the upscale models had pretty good Isuzu drive trains. One motor was a twin cam with a bit of high rev horsepower as I recall.

Proud to say I haven’t been to a ‘movie’ since 2003.

Then you have missed some excellent films:

-Dunkirk
-A Dogs Purpose
-Wind River
-13 Hours
-Risen
-Sully
-Deepwater Horizon
-Hacksaw Ridge
-Arrival
-Passengers
-Ex Machina
-Eye in the Sky
-Bridge of Spies
-Guardians of the Galaxy

Just to name a few. While there are others that are more to a personal flavor (Marvel Comic series, Mission Impossible, etc.) the ones I have listed are fantastic stories (except GotG, which is just fun). There were loads of failures and many that I regret watching, but with a discerning eye, movies can be quite enjoyable.

I didn’t say I haven’t watched many on your list...I just won’t go to a movie house anymore. But, generally speaking, the product isn’t what it was.

Sorry, you can only watch New York get CGI flooded and the Golden Gate bridge get CGI destroyed so many times before it is just old and boring.
