I'd say it's more a case of our culture being incorporated into theirs. This would not have been the case forty, or even twenty years ago. "Star Wars" and "Independence Day" weren't megahits in China at the time,,,but the world has much of an American-dominated pop culture now.
Do they have money? When you spend a couple hundred million making a movie you’re intended audience is anybody with money in their pocket.
