Sometimes you will see an young couple at church that after you get to know them you can just send a set their way. Lots of young couples don’t get those things come their way.
“...many friends born and raised here in East Tennessee recommended CB.”
I’m in E. TN, and CB is popular with everyone, the old-timers as well as us newbies.
There were many things that surprised us after moving here, and having difficulty finding authentic southern cooking at a restaurant is one of them. The ladies in my quilting group share some wonderful things, though!
We don’t have family close but we have ten grandkids so we are never at a loss where to send something in the future.
Hellman’s is a MUST! Real MAYO all the way.
Careful - there are some Duke’s people hereabouts ;-)
Right you are. I forgot about the Hellman’s/Duke’s divide. Can’t say I tried Duke’s before.
Well, just between you and me, I don’t personally think it compares with Hellman’s. But it may just be what we grew up on and are used to.
I think the other brand name for Hellman’s is Best.
Where is Duke’s sold? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it.
And re Hellman’s / Best - why the same mayo, but two different names? I think it was Best when we were on the west coast.
Companies seem to give their products different names in different regions sometimes; it may have something to do with past acquisitions, I’m not sure.
I’ve always thought of Duke’s as a Southern thing - Wiki seems to indicate that it first came on the scene in South Carolina. We have seen it here in the DC area for some years now, and there are coupons for it in the local newspaper; but I don’t recall seeing it when I was growing up.

I have on occasion seen a small jars (fun sized?) of Duke’s for sale (live in a Southern State). But I prefer to purchase larger sizes for economical reasons.

And since Hellman’s comes in larger sizes, and I KNOW it is really good, that is my go-to brand. It is even what I call one of my ‘splurge’ brands. Some things I don’t mind buying the store brand items. I take pride in stretching a buck. But there certain items I really try to get the brand name. And Hellman’s is one of those things.
Duke’s is supposed to be more ‘tangy’. I’ll have to try it again, especially on a tomato sandwich.
Don’t do that to me. I love tangy. If I try it and like it that will mess up my whole mayo game plan.
Variety is the spice of life, and all that...
omg.. no....Helmans(Best) is the only way to go....
This appears to be the explanation of Hellman’s/Best; it was due to Best buying Hellman, and since the products were both doing well in their regions, they kept their names. Apparently they are almost if not completely identical:

ME TOO!...Hellmans in the east and Best here in the west...
No, say it isn’t so. Is my beloved Hellman’s a Yankee brand?
