Genes are 80% of it, but smart choices and excellent medical care make up the other 20%. If your genes should decree a death at, say, 50, wouldn’t you do what you could to add another decade?
If your genes say you are going to die at fifty you die at fifty. If there is a work around, like pacemakers or implanted fibulator to cope with the genetic issue, great!
