I been through fires when I lived there, and I remember seeing a wall of flames that seemed quite far off in the distance (5-7 miles), that traveled incredibly quickly and threatened to jump I-5 a short-time later.

Yes, when this wind comes around every year and there are fires it’s bad.

If you are in Oak View or Mira Monte you should be prepping to leave if not be gone.

Sounds as though it is nearing downtown Ventura.

Thanks. As fast as this fire is going, it is dated. Some reports have it at 25k already. That’s over 100 acres a minute. Units are prepping just outside downtown Ventura. Historic homes there are threatened now.

Palm trees are wicked. You may as well build your house out of balsa than have those things around.

Listening to Ventura county fire on 5-0 radio.

Earlier they said 2 substations supplying power to the city of Ventura are directly threatened. Haven’t heard anything else.

Substations usually fair well. We had several that the fire burned around but did not do real damage. They can easily lose the poles around them.

Fire burning on the hills above Ventura, Heading towards the Avenue oil fields. I can see what looks like homes burning in the leaping flames. People are leaving—traffic jams. The Two trees above the city burning. I can see the marching flames from my house—power was out for an hour. Nothing on TV about the fire!

The media is painfully slow with real info. Where are you? You should get your things together, important papers, water, flashlights, clothes, etc. I just went through this. This is to unpredictable, especially with the winds. At the very least, prepare to go to an open area, a parking lot, a park, etc. Wet towels will help if you have to flee.
