Gotcha beat. We drove 600 miles to dead center in totality zone. It was on a property owned by an organization we volunteer with. We ended up hosting 200 people at an eclipse party.
It was worth the effort.

I drove to Salem, Oregon.
It was a SPECTACULAR sight, one of the most awesome things I ever saw in my 63 years...
But, alas, I still HATE driving in Oregon!

Beat ya! 620 miles to the best viewing place ever! Twickenham-Bridge Creek Cutoff Road, Mitchell, OR on a hill right above the John Day River. Middle of nowhere. About 30 strangers met on top of the hill. Great people from all over including a couple from Denmark.
