Used to have to go to mulberry street or E.Harlem to get real Napolitano pizza or my home turf Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. But the cumpari moved out of the city. Now the best pizza is in the burbs like Long Island, Westchester Jersey lower Connecticut.
Doesnt matter. I cant eat it anymore anyway (not without days of pain).
My dad used to say. Enjoy that while you can youd be surprised what you cant eat as you get old. And I was surprised.
BTW for a change of pace on rare occasions I would order a Sicilian pie. Which has its own charm.
But the UN? They can mangia u gatz ( u casso)
LOL.
I was in Naples (il vero Napoli) 4 years. Best of the best. When I moved to Brooklyn I was shocked that a restaurant owned by chassidic Jews opened up boasting Italian-style and got it absolutely spot-on, without the Neopolitan ingredients/produce of course...
(Basil restaurant on Kingston and Lincoln... Kosher!)
mangia u gatz :)
Heard and used that word many, many times in my 49 years.
Among others :)
