He was also wearing the Master Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, which I had never heard of. It looks like it was created after my service. This guy doesn’t exactly look like a HALO jumper.

It was created a while back. When I was at FBNC my best friend was in an instructor with SWC in selection & assessment. As I recall there were guys just getting that badge so that would be circa 88-92, somewhere in there.

Is that kinda like being an airborne tanker? Served as a Treadhead in the Pearhead Div in Germany. Chased women and drank great beer. Served four years and during that time absolutely no shots were fired at the US Military around the world so I am just a veteran that did not serve during time of Combat which is some sort of distinction if I wanted to join the VFW.

Hey...nobody shot at me so I got out. Didn’t see myself as a lifer and if I stayed in I probably would have ruined my liver. It was a great time to see Germany, late 70s, early 80s.

Don’t know about this PX cadet. He could have started his group by just being a Sp4. Of course it doesn’t sound sexy, but hell the man did serve, whether as its a driver stateside or a cook on a submarine in the middle of the Pacific...Serving is serving. The fellow needs to be counseled and returned to attempting to do his good works through his group/foundation. He screwed up thinking folks would not look at a Sp4 the same way as a Green Beret...(he’s probably right)
