Star Wars fans, rank the movies one through nine.

Posted on 12/20/2017 7:09:56 AM PST by MNDude

As every Star Wars fan knows, there are now nine Star Wars movies, if you include Rogue one, (although I have not seen the most recent.)

I'm curious to see everyone's rankings from 1 through 9 of your favorite Star Wars movie to your least.

I felt Rogue One was better than Force Awakens and would put FA below Return. Would likely put it 3rd overall.

1st two are far and away the best. Revenge of the Sith for me was the worst of the 2nd set, but that’s just my opinion.

Haven’t seen the new one - have to wait for the girls to get back from current travels.

That movie, not the New Hope (which was great), made what Star Wars franchise is today

I would disagree with you there. I saw ANH when it first came out in their theaters. It was a cultural phenomenon. If it was not successful, there would never have been an ESB.

When I left the theater after ANH, I felt exhilarated. When I left after ESB, I felt a little cheated and dejected. If you leave the Ewoks aside (hard to do I know), ROTJ was pretty damn good. It had a lot of meat to it: some excellent space battle scenes, exciting air cycle scenes in the forest, lots of insight into the mysterious Emperor (maybe the best character after Darth Vader) and taking out Jabba-the-Hutt.

I fast forwarded through Rogue One just to catch the gist, and was utterly appalled at what a truly lame movie it was.

New Hope was good and a hit, I acknowledge that but if the empire strikes back was a dud of a movie then the entire franchise would have fell apart. You have your opinion and I respect that but you’re probably in a small minority of opinion that ESB left you cheated.

The sequels minus Rouge 1 are terrible.

Abrams screwed up 2 franchises

The new ones make me love the prequels now

I will agree I’m in the minority on ESB. Still, I would put it at #2 after ANH. I definitely appreciate it more now than I did in 1980.

Also, in my head canon, "Ani: A Parody" ranks higher than the prequel trilogy.

“Abrams screwed up 2 franchises”

I thought I was the only one that hated what Abrams did to Star Trek.

I would also say that the first 10 minutes of ANH were probably one of the best opening scenes for any movie ever It was so well done in so many ways that it set up the rest of the franchise. The attack on the Death Star was pretty epic too.

There was a lot going on in ESB, but nothing on that scale—not even the AT-AT attack on the rebel base. In fact, if it had not been for the revelation that Vader was Luke’s father, ESB might have been a dud.

A New Hope (mostly for sentimental reasons and FWIW it was the only movie I went to see at a theater more than once – 3 times in fact.)
The Empire Strikes Back
Rogue One (I know I may be in the minority, but I really liked that one even though…well not exactly a happy ending except for people sacrificing themselves to save the lives of others against an evil force)
Force Awakens
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones (meh, but better than Phantom Menace)
Return of the Jedi (It would have been good except for the Ewoks!!!!)
Phantom Menace (I could barely get through that one and really wanted to see Jar Jar to get cut in half with a light saber)
I haven’t seen The Last Jedi yet but probably will at some point, if not in a theater, probably at my nephew’s house. He’s an uber SW fan, and I would also mention, a very politically conservative guy, and his comment after seeing it twice including on the Thursday opening “Very good, nice twists and some new concepts”

7) Blue Harvest

LOL! I do admit to loving the Family Guy parody.

Ultimately the Galaxy’s Edge book series, by Nick Cole and Jason Anspach, surpasses the SW universe. Book 6 came out today and can not wait to start reading it tonight.

1) The Empire Strike Back
2) New Hope
3) Rogue One
4) The Revenge of the Sith (Bad acting but better story that other prequels)
5) The Return of the Jedi (Too much Ewok. Otherwise OK)
6) The Phantom Menace (Pod race too long/Jar Jar sucked)
7) The Attack of the Clones (Worst dialogue ever. “I hate sand . . .”)
8) The Force Awakens (Totally derivative. Have to give the prequels the edge over this. At least they were original)

Haven’t seen the new one.

Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
New Hope
Empire
Rogue One
Clone Wars
Force Awakens
Phantom Menace

Haven’t seen newest one. As you see I don’t buy into the revisionist idea to dump on Episode One to Three, to make Force Awakens look better.

I agree. I love that 3 way duel. The rest of the movie stunk.

Force Awakens had to grow on me. I too was annoyed they did the whole death star thing over. And a little miffed that Abrams thinks he knows better than hundreds of authors that built the expanded universe. Would rather have seen Thawn.

There have been 3 right? Liked the first one he did, the other 2 Star Treks bite the big one.
