I refinanced to get rid of the siding and central air conditioning installation bills -$350.00 per month.

Unfortunately, my sewer main crapped the bed last week and they had to replace it. That’ll be another $15,000 job.

So.....Guess what I get to do again NEXT year!

Bought some needed nice furniture at 66% discount and 48 months to pay with NO INTEREST!

Earlier this year they had a deal that for every $100 in Rooms to Go giftcards you bought we got another $100 gift card for free. I believe they had a limit of 3 gift cards per person but we went thru a relative and got an extra 3 FREE $100 giftcards. The only catch was you had to use the giftcards within a certain time frame which we intended to do anyways. The result was a net savings of $600.

When I learned about OAN and discovered that it wasn't on my lineup on DirectTV I called and learned that I could change plans for $20/month less and pick up OAN and some other stations and not lose any stations I like.

I also called Comcast Business and told them I was thinking of moving to some other service for my Internet, so they immediately bumped up my network speed and lowered my monthly bill by $30/month.

I didn’t think I saved much money this year but since I don’t watch tv I guess I saved hundreds of dollars.

Wait - I did find an eleven month no-penalty CD at Ally bank that pays 2%. That’s like getting 2% on a savings account.

To have our lawn mowed it would cost $65 a week. We do it ourselves, since July 1975. Multiply that out and add any kind of interest or stock market savings you like to it. My son figured it with compounding interest and it was sizable. Huge as Bernie S would say. Also we clean out own house. That saves us $125 a week, if not more. Haven’t priced that since 1990s. I cut my own hair. We cook most meals at home. We don’t buy a new car every year. We paid cash for my college and our kids’ college. We didn’t buy all new furniture for our new house, we moved our old stuff, bought a few new pieces for living room Using inherited furniture from in laws, they didn’t make it like that anymore. We didn’t get into the grocery delivery thing, whatever it was called this year. We rarely eat out. 2017 just more of the same things, only more of them! LOL Larry Burkett ideas.

I saved a lot of money this summer by eating barbecued food.

I picked up several 3.1 lb bags of Kingsford charcoal for about 60 cents each via coupons so my next move is to order a Weber grill from Amazon. I had been using a propane grill but it is getting old plus that cheap charcoal is cheaper than propane. Oh, and that nice taste from using charcoal.

We lower the temp to 60 at night. It never gets down that low in the eight to ten hours the furnace is off.

We buy big bags of whole bean Pike Place Starbucks coffee, grind it fresh every morning, make our own coffee. Our Cuisinart grinds then brews! Much better than coffee house coffee. Son got us a Keurig for Christmas. Already bought the refillable pod so we don’t use the ones you buy already filled! $AVE$

In September I dumped my AT&T cell service in favor of Straight Talk Wireless through Walmart. I was paying $100 per month for unlimited everything, but finally started examining my bills and saw that I was hardly using any data. Switched to Straight Talk and now pay $45 (about $49 with tax) for 10 GB, which is more than enough. I’ve seen Straight Talk refill cards for sale on eBay at an even better price, but I haven’t tried that route yet.

I’ve been very happy with the quality of Straight Talk’s service; where I live it uses Verizon’s towers. Why the heck did I pay so much more for so long???
