S-E-C! S-E-C! To the chagrin of most of America, it's Alabama-Georgia for all the marbles

The chant boomed out early in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and then again late, and a third time even later for good measure. And although it’s enough to trigger a collective gag reflex in 39 states plus several U.S. territories, it’s a fact-based champion’s chant. “S-E-C! S-E-C!” the Alabama fans thundered, when the final score of the Rose Bowl was announced and league brethren Georgia had advanced to the College Football Playoff title game.

Ohio State is a national program in all of their sports programs. Just look at their recruiting class for 2018 which is no. 2 in the country behind Georgia. They only have 4 Ohio kids in the ‘18 class, the rest are from out of state.

That’s why they prefer to play home and away series in non-conference schedule so as to promote themselves in different regions around the country. Next year OSU will play TCU in Texas and Oregon State at home.

But that all being said, you can’t underestimate Saban.

Especially when he's 11-0 against former staffers.

Simple math. If “Bama can’t turnover Georgia, they don’t win.

I don’t see how anyone has Bama as a favorite, especially with the game in UGA’s backyard.

The fan base will be 50/50.

He lost to Dabo last year.

Dabo is not a former staffer; he played at Alabama in the early ‘90’s when Stallings was the coach.

I stand corrected, for some reason I thought he served under Saban.

I was most disappointed with OU's last possession in regulation. Three straight running plays including the third down run that was stopped a yard away from a first down. OU was up by a touchdown. One more first down would have iced the game.

And then in the first overtime with GA leading by three, OU again played it safe. They could have won the game with a touchdown. They didn't even throw it into the end zone.

If the NE Patriots were faced with similar situations, Belichick would have gone for the jugular.

The OT play calling was playing safe. That’s not how OU won games this year. Do what you do, and put the pressure o the other team to stop what you do best. Georgia did what they do, run the ball. OU need to play for the end zone on it’s OT possession’s, instead they were only interested in gaining a first down.

‘Bama is the clear favorite. They will stop GA’s running game and their secondary is much better than OU’s. Bama is the superior team physically and talent wise. It will be a defensive game similar to the Clemson game.

OU was worn down going into OT. Their defense was spent. OU squandered a golden opportunity in the first OT holding GA to a field goal. They should have tried to win when they had the advantage over GA. The second OT was a disaster.

I agree and would go a step further. All conferences should play a full round robin inorder to choose a true champion. The current conferences would have to downsize and eliminate their divisional structures. A twelve game regular season would allow a ten team conference to play a round robin plus three non-conference games. A ten game regular season would be better.

Undefeated Central Florida beat Auburn.

Auburn beat Georgia
Auburn beat Alabama

There really is no discussion.

You point out one of the flaws of the current system. That Bama can get away with playing one less game, not having to risk injury and having an additional week to plan and get healthy.

Now, don't forget OSU had that same advantage last year. How did that work out?

Except football wins are not transitive, therefore the analysis is meaningless.

If they were voted #1, they would be the worst #1 since the 1984 BYU team.

I’d still say more times than not it is an advantage to not have to play an extra game.

You're telling me, the '84 Gators would have killed them.

Considering that ESPN laid off up to 100 people and plus other issues.
