Proper remedy, to my mind, is for those teachers to be fired. A settlement won’t cost the district anything. Any money will come out of the taxpayers’ hides. I think firing those teachers would send a stronger message.
Can’t fire them. Teachers union. Yea I know it blows.
If the teachers aren’t fired, THEN sue.
The settlement should be paid personally by the three teachers,

These types of teachers that don’t care about their students, mock them, hand out math “investigation” sheets and tell the kids to “explore and figure out the answers” and don’t teach (instead spend their time online shopping) - firing is too easy. Maybe with a “T” for traitor tattooed on their foreheads.
The kids they are “teaching” are this country’s future. I wouldn’t mind if they hanged a few of them in the public square - but that would never happen. (Hmm - tarred and feathered and run out on a rail??)
Maybe the settlement should come from the union, not the taxpayers.
