You are correct -26- -37 = -26 + 37 = 11.

No, it does not mean that they have a low IQ. Many of our students are born with perfectly healthy brain cells, but they are not taught academics.

You are correct. It still does....unless we’re talking Common Core.

the missing number sequences, none of which I got, were reminiscent of computer aptitude tests. Thank goodness I didn't know I was unqualified. LOL Oh, and I got six right.

I believe you have to go left on the number line when subtracting...

I thought two negatives equal a positive
That’s when you’re multiplying, I think.
Subtraction has to do with changing the sign of the subtrahend and then adding, IIRC.

The first thing a genius level person realizes is to play society as average to avoid the resentment of others.
That is why smart Dummies books are for dummies.

"Did you count the letters available (20) to get the broccoli letters question? " For some reason (laziness, probably) I focused on how many "c"s were in the initial phrase. Since there was only one answer with 3 "c"s, I was done.
I remember a test I saw years ago which challenged one to count the "f"s in a paragraph. What made it challenging was that all the "f"s had a hard pronunciation except one which was pronounced like "v". People could look at that a long time struggling to get the right answer.

Subtle. Faster than counting to 20 as well.

No, minus a negative is the same as adding a positive. (You can move the -1 multiplier around to make your description work, but its easier to just know the rule. )

Came out of IBM Research on early retirement. Besides money, they gave us retraining, so I took courses in screenplay writing and editing the scene up in Maine. Wrote my first screenplay by the book and had to come up with a query letter. I printed it on the page at a slant and began the text with “A friend of mine has said that I think at a slant...” The letter got 37 offers to read the screenplay, with 7 offers of representation. Blew my head apart deciding since none were perfect. Went with John Grisham’s NYC book agent, who subcontracted me to Writers & Artists in Hollywood for a 2 year, no way out contract. Screenplays didn’t sell, but it was WILD while it was going on.

If you're curious and can read screenplays - not easy reading - I just put up my Forever Knight TV script, which also didn't sell, onto my personal site. It's been up in the past, since the show is off the air, but I've been lazy about putting it back up.
Goodnight, Sweet Prince," a Forever Knight Vampire Script
The thing about screenplays that make them addictive for me is that they go like a bat out of hell and, to write them, you have to mentally put yourself into a group, carefully making sure you don't overstep the responsibilities of other members of the production crew - like set designer, etc.

Thank you. Very much appreciated. It was a fun challenge to match their dialog styles.
TV scripts are a different animal than movie ones. I did a lot of tricks with this one that involved getting originally written FK scripts and transcribing episodes to compare how the actors modified the scripts into their own voices. Then I worked within the guidelines of the average script sections using the terminology preferred by the production company.
