What can Trump do to stop sanctuary cities and states? [Vanity]

While President Trump is battling the judiciary, as much as anyone else, to end sanctuary cities and states, it seems to me that he, as president, has lots of room to act unilaterally. Why not, for example, simply issue an executive order that there is to be no unnecessary travel, meetings, or business held by any US government organization or employee in any state or city that declares sanctuary?

So simple. Seriously, how can a court tell the government where to travel to, where to hold a meeting, or conduct business? The impact would be immediate and local everywhere. Maybe this would give local business owners the push to challenge their elected officials to end these policies in their communities and states.

Your thoughts?

Personally, we do little business anywhere that offers sanctuary. Nearby California, for me. For my own company, we are developing our own policy to avoid doing business in any state or city that gives sanctuary to illegal aliens. How quietly to do it, how openly, how to not hurt business, how to maybe create new business. Easy to recognize it is not so simple. Heck, we live five miles from California, I often fly through Sacramento.

Again, your thoughts? What are you doing personally? What is your business or employer doing?

Why can’t the Feds start arresting mayors and/or governors for aiding and abetting? That would take some starch out of these seditious bitches.

How about we Quarantine these cities due to all the diseases these illegals are bringing in...that we once had eradicated, or never had at all.

Oh well, it was a thought. Along the lines of arresting Al Capone on taxes, because that’s all the evidence they had...

Great idea! Sedition is a crime. Or at least should be. Deny them all federal funding. Fine employers who knowingly employ these insects.

The Justice Department has every right to prosecute office holders and others who seek to dictate what the immigration laws of this nation are.

If they violate statutes that prescribe certain actions, they are guilty of a crime.

They should go to prison.

Governor Brown can’t set immigration policy. For him to sign legislation or make a blanket E.O. on the subject, is illegal if it countermands U.S. Law.

It’s the same for anyone else.

Federal agencies make requests, and state entities have to comply to enforce the laws of our nation.

Brown and other swore an oath to obey the laws of the land.

Send the idiot stick to prison. Let him sleep off the Leftist brain freeze there.

All it will take is sending about ten folks to prison, and the Sanctuary effort will be over.

I suggest churches be looked at also.

Nobody has the right to harbor illegal aliens or assist them in any way, making it easy for them to live here.

Put a reward/bounty on illegals and a toll free anonymous hotline for the police to use. Pay them under the table to do their job. The cop detains calls ICE, ICE shows up gives the cop cash the jumper gets thrown in the van everyone is happy (except the illegal).

Agree 100%.

And while they’re at it, fine, jail, or otherwise penalize employers - large or small - who employ illegals.

That's the rub. There are not any.

Well, if Abraham Lincoln was so wonderful, why doesn’t Trump just do what he did?

Statutes state that illegal aliens are to be deported.

Federal agencies have to enforce those laws.

If they try to block that in any manner, they have broken the law.

What did Abraham Lincoln do to the Southern states that did not want to enforce Federal Law (runaway/freed slaves)?

Right. But if you look at what the sanctuary cities & counties are doing, they are walking the line. They are not saying the feds can't come in & detain people for deportation. They are saying they will not cooperate.

There is no law that the locals have to cooperate. In fact, cities & counties are getting successfully sued when they hold illegals in jail (after they are otherwise permitted to go) without a warrant from ICE.

It's like when Obama tried to enlist the locals to conduct gun background checks & the locals told him to go pound salt. They said - it's your law, you enforce it, we don't have to assist. They then sued Obama & won that case before SCOTUS on state sovereignty/anti-commandeering grounds. Same thing here, unfortunately.

You mean SB 1070? That's a different matter. That's when the state is trying to assist. Not when they refuse to do so.

We’ll see what a judge says when confronted with a felon who has killed people being released at the end of his sentence without notification.

I think you have a point, but I’m not convinced all judges are going to see it that way.

Was the last effort appealed all the way to the SCOTUS, or did the Obama administration just say, “Oh, okay. Thank you.”
