It was an aggressive attack by black, and his since become famous and given a name. However, in this game, white won. I take it as analogous to the bad guys (black) have attacked Trump (white) for the last year, but the tide is about to turn against them. White hats will win.

Nope. If the black queen moved to rook 8, as was being suggested, white king could indeed take black knight. The original poster took back the move, although indicated they would be willing to sacrifice the black knight to take the white bishop. I think there are better moves for black at this stage.
The meaning is the White King is finally safe after a dangerous, relentless attack. White wins in a couple of moves after this position.

If you go to the tweet, which shows the chessboard at a certain point in the game (finally safe for the white king), there is a video several tweets down that explains this position. After a brilliant plan by the black player to entrap the white player, the white king makes its way to a position of strength.
This is quite a powerful statement Assange is making. I think you'll enjoy this.
