Kieth Jackson graduated from Washington State University; and was loyal to his school to the end.

Hearing him announce the starting lineups was always fun and information. I always remember him having introduced a player with his classic inflection “from Alabama...” the way he drew out the syllables was exciting and awesome.

Baltimore’s Chuck Thompson is high on my list if announcers; both of the Birds and the Colts.

I remembered when he retired. I thought it was just a few years ago. Here it’s 12 years ago already? Time flies. R.I.P. Keith Jackson.

Was it Keith Jackson who announced the murder of the Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972?

Chris Economaki.
Loved him in the middle of the wreckage of the demolition derbies and figure 8’s during Wide World of Sports. Big antenna off his headphones. As a kid I thought that was the coolest job in the world.

For those of us who are of a certain age, Mr. Jackson's voice on autumnal Saturday's was college football.Indeed it was.
It's third down and a country mile to go.

Tell me about it. Now we have frickin' women announcing college football games. There's a woman college football announcer on CBS (can't recall her name) that makes me turn off the tv!

IIRC, he was the announcer on the first season of NFL Monday Night Football...or maybe my flu has me hallucinating.

Yep, I just remembered that. He quoted AE Housman’s “To an Athlete Dying Young.” Very touching.
