but what material could be charged at that rate and not generate heat, potentially increase resistance, melt, etc. Guess these questions are why it would be a breakthrough.

Super Conducting Super Capacitors?..................

Hopefully, the electricity does not a have to be released just as fast as it’s charged at.

Imagine 0 to 165 in 1.8 seconds on icy roads.

Maybe with a charging cable about 2 inches in diameter, a rubber pad about 6 inches thick to stand on and a bomb disposable suit to wear??

That is interesting if you are into electric cars. But I live in a sparsely populated rural area where just about all of us are researching the best and most economical solar panels and storage batteries with the highest capacity so that being off-grid is no big deal-especially if TSHTF and takes down the grid in the near future-there would be no energy to spare for an electric car, so the person who didn’t own a conventional vehicle would be SOL here-and 4x4’s are the norm here, be they pickup or SUV, because of the rough/steep roads.

Another poster pointed out that there don’t appear to be any real environmental/energy saving advantages to electric cars-they are also too explosive for my liking...

We'll need more power plants, probably in the form of small, natural gas based fuel cells set up behind "filling stations", rather than relying on the already overtaxed power grid.

You can change the nature of a photon from a wave to a particle by simply observing it.

I still don’t know why that’s true, and Einstein didn’t either, but its still reproduceable.

Things are impossible until they aren’t.

When they figure a way to charge while driving on a main road and only use the battery on small secondary roads will it be truly an effective mode of transport.
If you have a six hour drive having to stop and charge would suck.

I’m collecting Mason jars and making Leyden jars from them.

A large sulfur sphere, tin foil, some wire...

Maybe a Wimshurst machine for high-speed recharging.

And my Prius will be supercharged!

Congratulations! You have just invented the hybrid car.

I was thinking more of cables being imbedded in the highway the would run the car. Then you go to battery to your final destination

Here’s a Youtube video of what a somewhat large capacitor bank can do it uses a total of 56 480 joule capacitors making up the power supply for a total weight of 200 lbs and 27,000 joules at 400 volts. Notice what they are using to charge the capacitors !

The upcoming Porsche E Mission is said to recharge to 85% in 20 minutes.

The 4 door luxury sedan is said to be offered in 400, 500 and 600 hp versions.

Renderings show a car more beautiful than the Pamamera, the Fisker or the Tesla.
