CHICAGO -- Moments after a woman ran up to a Northwest Side birthday party asking for help, witnesses say, someone in a passing vehicle fired shots at the group, sending four people to area hospitals and leaving one woman in critical condition.
Legacy Dance Association in Humboldt Park was hosting a birthday party Saturday night, according to co-owner Reynaldo Sanchez, who said all was quiet until a woman ran up to the party around 1 a.m. and asked for help.
“It’s just by chance that she picked this place,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez said according to people at the party, the woman told a group of people outside the studio that she was in a fight with her boyfriend, and moments later someone driving by the party fired shots at the studio.
Neighbors say they heard several gunshots. Four people were struck by bullets.
Police confirm a 19-year-old woman entering the party was shot in the neck, and is now in critical condition at Stroger Hospital. A 30-year-old woman was also hit in the arm, and is in good condition at Norwegian American Hospital. It’s unclear if either are the one witnesses say was seeking help.
Two men were also shot. A 24-year-old man shot in the lower back is in stable condition at Norwegian American Hospital. The other, a 21-year-old shot in the hand, is in good condition, police say.
Sanchez said most of the victims were inside the party at the time, and police returned to the scene Sunday to view surveillance cameras that showed the group inside hitting the floor as shots rang out.

They were just having a birthday party when a woman who wasn’t part of the party ran up to them, with the gunmen in pursuit of her, who ended up shooting some of the innocent folks at the party.
Can’t win here. Decent folks have a party that goes late, they are called idiots.
If they leave early or cancel out of fear, they are called cowards.

Humboldt Park is not Northwest, it's west. That makes this clickbait. They're trying to get the people in the white neighborhoods to think that this is something other than black-on-black crime. It's not.
This is the same tactic the media uses when they write sappy headlines about 'father killed after son's birthday party' and in the story you find out he's a gangbanger, has 12 kids by 11 women, blah blah blah.
The news media in the US is the enemy of personal liberty.
The end of the article calls for donations to three organizations, to “Stop Gun Violence.” Cure Violence, Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, and Everytown For Gun Safety.

This calls for more gun control. Buy backs are the answer along with house to house searches. We need to stop this idiotic gun violence.
Just think, with all guns gone the democrat voting thugs will be killing everyone with clubs and knives. It will really be an improvement. It will guarantee the rats will be governing Chicago for another 50 years, maybe even achieve total destruction of neighborhoods like Detroit.
Nothing like random gun fire to liven up the party.
I think donations to the NRA and Oath Keepers would be more beneficial than those.
