An official portrait of former first lady Michelle Obama was unveiled at the Smithsonians National Portrait Gallery Monday morning. The painting was done by Baltimore artist Amy Sherald, who is known for her social justice painting style.

Certainly not the nicest person, but ever since I saw the photo of her looking at Carla Bruni, I have felt a certain sympathetic sadness for her. Fate is not always just or kind.
Those in the audience cried out in one voice....Who Dat!
Neither of the two painters of the Obamas paint pictures of white folks. Amy Sherald who painted Mrs. Obama’s picture is a much better artist then the guy who painted the hubby’s picture.
How much larger is this portrait than others in the gallery. Looks to be excessively large. The again, shes an arrogant b!+(.
I was thinking the same... except that even for folk art this is pretty bad. And folk art is crap art white people buy to seem deep. So that bar is already pretty low.
Basically, this artist is a fraud who just got publicly unveiled as the no concept, no depth, no skill, affirmative action finger painter that she is.
(Can’t believe > 160 responses later, and nobody mentioned the obvious)
Imagine the abuse and outcry if the said painting was done by a straight white male?
Since the social justice style artist was handpicked by the Obamas themselves, they just had to grin and pretend it was ‘great’ art or something, bwahahahaahaaa...
Watch the video. Michelle knows it's horrid, and can barely hide that recognition on stage. She literally has to go to her mom for help. It's almost enough to make me have a moment of sympathy for her. Almost.
The title of painting “Messing with Sasquatch”.
I pretty much despise the wookie, but that’s embarrassing....
It looks like a paint by numbers art....done by a 10 year old...
Or one from that brief video from about 6 months back when He/It/Whatever and Barry were dropping of that party gal kid of their’s at college. The damn crank looked like a tree trunk floppin’ around in front!
It’s supposed to be a pansie in a field.
We saw in the early days of the Obama Administration. where she was walking the dog in the WH grounds and her hair was pulled back in a tight nob..her natural hair is very nappy and she chemically straightened it but over time that treatment is harsh and bad on hair and scalp...so she resorted to wigs , and during her eight years as FLOTUS she got only the very best, custom made for just her...no way does she have flowing locks that she sports...
Both daughter also have very nappy hair and they too had a lot of straightening chemical work done and now both of them use false hair pieces and wigs..we don't see much of the younger girl...but the long hair on the older daughter is totally false..
very notable.
the entire family are false and fake and phony...really quit sick of all of them...time for them to step out of the spot light and get a REAL LIFE.. but I think B.Hussein O. is going to face some very serious legal issue coming up...
those are my hair dresser views..just sharing..
I saw a bit of it but had to change the channel when she started talking in that nasal voice of hers—ugh. He was looking down, and I was thinking he should be embarrassed to be in public as a former president since all of this stuff is coming out about him.. I know, they have no shame. He thinks he can’t be touched.
It might be decent art, but it’s bad portraiture on her part. It simply doesn’t look like Mrs. Obama. Surreal art usual has a high degree of realism in it; this one looks as though the artist was more interest in the design than in the portrait. The dress seems to be the subject.
His portrait is far too busy in the background which looks more like the foreground that he happened into. But at least it does look like him.
It appears to be saying 'there's a penis in here someplace'.
That style of painting isnt what I would expect for an official portrait of a first lady.
