New report gives Florida an "F" for election security

Is your vote safe?

A new review of the security of America’s election infrastructure casts serious doubts over the voting process, the funding of security, and oversight.

And the report is especially critical of Florida.

The Center for American Progress (CAP) gave Florida a failing grade for election security, one of just five states in the country to receive an “F” in the report.

The report does not allege that the state’s election process has been compromised, but claims that its defenses should be seriously improved.

Some of the main charges by CAP are that Florida does not provide a paper record, doesn't do a good enough job safely ensuring that votes are cast as the voter intended, and knocks Florida for not mandating that voting machines meet national voting system guidelines.

Hillsborough County’s Supervisor of Elections disputed several of the report’s points today.

“I think this report is full of errors. I guess it’s full of opinions because it’s not full of facts,” said Craig Latimer to ABC Action News on Tuesday.

Latimer says he’s reviewed the report and says CAP appears to have been at times both mis-informed, and at other times confused.(snip)

Latimer went on to call CAP’s grades irresponsible and damaging.

“The fact of the matter is none of our elections were hacked,” Latimer said speaking of the 2016 elections in Florida in which hackers launched an unsuccessful phishing attack in an attempt to hack voting records.

“What did happen though is it undermined the confidence of the voters. And this report also undermines the confidence," says Latimer.

“If they would have stuck to the facts it would have been a lot better report,” added Latimer, who also serves on a national taskforce for election security.

Just keep voting off the web and we're okay.

As soon as we get to "vote on line".....we're no longer secure.

Mail In is not secure. They can be thrown in the waste basket.

P.S. There was no Boris with an AK-47 at my polling place.

Fake News. The Center for American Progress is a leftist organization. The kooks there hate Republican states. We have a Republican governor and legislature.

Let me guess, the “answer” is to have a left wing organization hand count the ballots behind closed doors?

I remember that Broward county got caught doing some sort of voting funny business on the day of the election. Unfortunately, I had to get to a meeting and couldn't hang around to listen to the news.

I also remember that all the news channels were taking an uncharactoristically long time reporting Florida, North Carolina, and especially Georgia. My guess is that these states were all slated to be stollen for Hildebeast. Don't forget that their was a cyberhack into the voter roles in one of the states (Georgia I think) that got traced back to Jeh Johnson and Homeland security.

Does anyone else remember the Georgia Elections Board reporting after the 2016 election that they had stopped the hacking of their system? They identified the hackers as the FEDERAL government!
This could explain why states are reporting that there was evidence of hacking in that election. It wasn’t Russia’s hackers, but our D.C. hackers. No wonder Hillary won the “popular vote.”

Any state with same day voter registration is ripe for fraud.

The article said there were five states that were “awarded” an “F”.

I know that Florida’s Electoral College votes played a significant part in Trump’s victory. How did the other four failing states vote in 2016?

I might not have asked this question if the report’s source wasn’t “Center for American Progress (CAP)” and reported by ABC Action News. BTW Wikipedia states that Center for American Progress (CAP) is a progressive public policy research and advocacy organization. According to CAP, the center is “dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action.” The Center presents a liberal viewpoint on economic and social issues. It has its headquarters in Washington, D.C.

So they cite a way far left group, borderline subversives, as reputable? Where is that Goebbels pic?

It still amazes me that Iraq with no history of democracy, can get an election mostly free of corruption and we can’t.

But not “Far Left”, correct?

Brietbart is “Far Right”. So is Gateway Pundit, The Conservative Treehouse, The Drudge Report and others. All “Far Right”. That is from the AP Style Book, BTW. To call them all “Far Right”. It’s a growing list and all the media adheres to it.

I guess there is no “Far Left”. Just nice “Progressive” folks promoting liberty.

Florida does not do direct electronic voting. By statute we have paper ballots.

A basic step in cleaning up elections in all states is to repeal the ill-conceived 17th Amendment.

The 16th Amendment can disappear too.
