I was watching that and had NO idea there were more skiers to go. The implication was that it was over. What fools.

They said so many times that no one after the last skier they showed had a chance that I thought the rest of the field were from the paraolympics with blind and legless athletes were coming up. I guess it was blind, legless and Czechs.

If there is ONE lesson to be learned about competitive skiing, it is that literally anybody can win. This is why we constantly see a dominant World Cup skier beaten by a veritable nobody in at least one event in each Olympic year. It should be enough to give any real sports commentator pause before prematurely declaring some favorite the ‘winner’.

Does anybody remember Bill Johnson? Surely Bodie Miller does. Bill Johnson upset a field full of superior skiers on a downhill course that was made for his skill on THAT day. Bodie on the other hand was one of the best skiers year in and year out in the World Cup, but could never quite get his sh*t together in the moments that counted in Olympic competition. So I’m wondering Bodie? What’s your excuse for blowing it this time?
