America Doesn't Have a Gun Problem, It Has a Gang Problem
Front Page Magazine ^ | 12/30/2012 | Daniel Greenfield

Chicago's murder numbers have hit that magic 500. Baltimore's murder toll has passed 200. In Philly, it's up to 324, the highest since 2007. In Detroit, it's approaching 400, another record. In New Orleans, it's almost at 200. New York City is down to 414 from 508. In Los Angeles, it's over 500. In St. Louis it's 113 and 130 in Oakland. It’s 121 in Memphis and 76 in Birmingham...

It isn’t the bitter gun-and-bible clingers in McCain and Romney territory who are racking up a more horrifying annual kill rate than Al Qaeda; it’s Obama’s own voting base....

Chicago’s problem isn’t guns; it’s gangs. Gun control efforts in Chicago or any other major city are doomed because gangs represent organized crime networks which stretch down to Mexico, and trying to cut off their gun supply will be as effective as trying to cut off their drug supply....

Lanza and Newtown are comforting aberrations. They allow us to take refuge in the fantasy that homicides in America are the work of the occasional serial killer...

They fool us into thinking that there is something American about our murder rate that can be traced to hunting season, patriotism and bad mothers.

America is, on a county by county basis, not a violent country, just as it, on a county by county basis, did not vote for Obama.

It is being dragged down by broken cities full of broken families whose mayors would like to trash the Bill of Rights for the entire country in the vain hope that national gun control will save their cities, even though gun control is likely to be as much help to Chicago or New Orleans as the War on Drugs.

I am thinking that Sweden is not a safe place these days - too many refugees.

Yes, and that all started out years ago, when Clinton axed the DOJ, FBI, etc. and started installing all the liberal judges he could. Followed by all the corruptocrats in the unity parties.

So a liberal tells me we need to ban guns. I tell the liberal to go ask a survivor of the German Concentration Camps how that worked out for the Jews.

Same for the Mexicans I guess. At the mercy of Cartels and corrupt policemen. Already in our larger cities.

True, but those laws about the mentally ill - we’d have to be careful - don’t forget that political dissidents in the Soviet Union were routinely declared crazy and incarcerated in mental institutions.

It’s America, for the moment we may blame who ever we want. Thank God and pass the ammunition.

If you bring up the Nazis liberals will tell that's ancient history and it will never happen here because we are so much more enlightened now.

If you tell them what I did about Mexico they will respond "Yeah, they get all their guns from the U.S. because we're a gun-crazy country!" Don't let them slide on that BS.

Mexico's Gun Supply and the 90 Percent Myth

As we discussed in a previous analysis, the 90 percent number was derived from a June 2009 U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report to Congress on U.S. efforts to combat arms trafficking to Mexico (see external link).

According to the GAO report, some 30,000 firearms were seized from criminals by Mexican authorities in 2008. Of these 30,000 firearms, information pertaining to 7,200 of them (24 percent) was submitted to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for tracing. Of these 7,200 guns, only about 4,000 could be traced by the ATF, and of these 4,000, some 3,480 (87 percent) were shown to have come from the United States.

This means that the 87 percent figure relates to the number of weapons submitted by the Mexican government to the ATF that could be successfully traced are not from the total number of weapons seized by Mexican authorities or even from the total number of weapons submitted to the ATF for tracing. In fact, the 3,480 guns positively traced to the United States equals less than 12 percent of the total arms seized in Mexico in 2008 and less than 48 percent of all those submitted by the Mexican government to the ATF for tracing. This means that almost 90 percent of the guns seized in Mexico in 2008 were not traced back to the United States.

ALL gun laws are unconstitutional. The government should have no knowledge of who buys guns, what kinds of guns they have or how many they have. I should be able to go to ANY gun store or private seller and buy as many guns and as much ammo as I like and there should be no record of the transaction except my receipt. Heck, I should be able to pay in Bitcoin if I want to.

I should not have to provide ID or pass a GOVERNMENT background check. I should not have to wait 24 hours. I should not be prohibited from buying fully automatic weapons. In this country, my right to keep and bear arms is supposed to absolute. Nobody has a right to decide what weapons I “need.” My right to bear arms comes from God. There are no limits. Any limits are a violation of my God-given rights.

It’s true. Freedom of Speech has been under attack for years by the so called “politically correct”, so that an intelligent discussion about problems, the causes, and solutions can’t even be discussed without some detrimental label being hung on the person speaking.

The culture wars are actually a spiritual war. Creeping Evil has infiltrated our society, and needs to be identified and sent packing.

It is important to pray.

Ephesian 6:12

...For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground...

Start with our own family, friends, and local community and schools. Bring God, honesty, integrity, and duty back into our lives and nation. We have to be our own army, backed by God.

Does that go for someone who is here illegally and is a member of ISIS?

Obviously, these are God-given rights of AMERICAN CITIZENS. And if those rights were respected, we would not have to worry about illegals or ISIS.

America has a groupthink problem. It has trickled down to the young. If you don’t swallow the liberal belief system lock, stock and barrel, then you are ostracized. So these kids are forced into that or they’re outcasts or they become thugs.

Not really, because I have usually already turned and walked away. Such people are what I call Flat Earthers.

I wonder what they would think about banning alcohol today, or maybe cigarettes - it would work because we are so enlightened right?

Such people are wrong, but that’s ok with them, because for now, they can live with their ignorance. Every Tyrant in history has used been enabled by such thinking.

If we are so enlightened, I’d like to know why HRC is called the butcher of Libya, by the people who live there.

People who don’t know and understand history are doomed to repeat it.
