For some reason it played with a 20 minute delay on the monitor the Police commanders were watching, which is why they could not figure out where the shooter was before he escaped.
My cousin works at a nearby school.
She said a Sheriff’s deputy and car are typically stationed right in front of the main entrance.
The shooter, according to my cousin, entered on the opposite side of the school, through the gate to the senior student parking lot, which is unlocked just a few minutes before the dismissal bell rings.
The female student security guard on that gate was killed, but my cousin said it is not clear when she was killed, or where she was found.
That's tough, she was where she should have been, and stood in the way of fire.
Thats terrible.
I hate to say it, but the sheriffs departments in Florida are not the best in the law enforcement services. Theres traditionally been a lot of nepotism, good-ol-boy stuff, and even corruption, usually consisting in letting their friends go free. We even had a sheriff here who covered up for his sons murder of his wife (the sons wife), and of course he was never charged with being an accessory after the fact or anything, even though he had helped dispose of the body.
In addition, I just dont think theyre as professionally trained as the police departments.
