I keep them up on the wall, behind a locked door when I’m not around.

Presentation is everything :)

A safe is nice, but it makes these things mighty inconvenient for me to get. I live out in the deep, deep country and even tonight I heard someone walking down the road when I was grilling.. Well, that isn’t supposed to happen but within seconds I had my firearm ready to defend against any danger.

If there is even one firearm outside of the safe, and kids are around it’s as if there is no safe at all. And I keep something near me, or nearby up and away from my daughter who also is to young to teach.

We all go through “Mind movies” when we store firearms. We think like a child. Find chairs to get to them, climb on counters or whatever. Even if it’s in your bedroom it only takes 15 seconds for them sneak up there and find them.

So I believe in keeping out of reach, but in my reach.

Shot gun is in the safe, carry piece is on the hip where it should be or was until thumb surgery now it’s joined the shot gun in the safe. We’ve had so many doc appointments it’s not safe to leave out. We may live in a small berg, but we’ve had 4 murders from home break in’s this last year. 4 more than normal. Robberies are higher too. Town is so small Kroger’s is the biggest employer. And NO it does NOT sell guns. The Gun store does though. As does the other one 15 miles away where the Navy base is. That 1 is run by retire LEO and is larger.
