According to the announcers yesterday, Tiger Woods is the only player ever to resume playing on tour after a lower back fusion operation. One of the announcers also said that Tiger’s measured swing speed this week was 127 mph, highest in the field. I doubt that pure length of the tee will be a problem with him given he maintains his current physical condition. Hitting a 7 iron half a club short on 18 from effectively 195 yards uphill into a breeze in heavy wet Florida late afternoon air is the polar opposite of short. If winning this tournament meant enough to him, he would have taken a six iron and cut it a little bit to get close enough for a reasonable birdie look.

Physically he can probably do it, but I don’t think he used the driver much at the Valspar.

He has his distance back, the question is how consistent is he with it. He didn’t hit a lot of drivers the last 2 events and did well. It was a little squirrely out in CA. I guess we will find out in upcoming events.
