In the 70’s, 80’s and early part of the 90’s most Officers would talk it over and decide to turn a blind eye to any
sort of gun confiscation. Most officers back then were hunters and fishermen and had family members and friends that were the same.
Such a gun confiscation, the officers would realize, would eventually catch up to them maybe not until they retired but
eventually they would be caught up in it.

Nowdays the difference is in the hiring policies of most cities.
The best applicants weren’t always hired and ex- military
and fit young men were being passed over for more diversity.
Women , minorities, gay and lesbian and even immigrants were the preferred candidates for the academies.

I wouldn’t be surprised if in most cities the officers would obey any order and just reason, “ hey , it’s the law”.

Not so-———I’ve know many city cops over the years and NONE ever hunted or fished.
