While this is common sense, I would like to see a study funded by other than a cleaning company.

“The studys first component consisted of an online survey of 2,000 American adults which found that those who enjoyed the act of cleaning were 25% happier that those who did not”
I love cleaning the house...I can watch people doing it for hours.

My late mother and my wife and lots of other women I've known always used to say and the wife still does that it's important to make sure the house is clean before we go out somewhere ‘’in case somebody comes by.’’ If we're not home and somebody ‘’comes by’’ to me that means that somehow or another they've gained entry into the house. If this were ever the case the last damn thing in the world I'm going to be worrying about is whether or not this intruder found the house clean.

We bought a unique (unusual!) fixer upper. The dining room is 18x20. Add in the kitchen, bathrooms, mud room, plus two hallways that are 6-10 feet wide and Id never be off my knees! Right now most of the flooring is nasty institutional asbestosis tile so I quick mop it less than I should.
Ive never used a Swiffer wet jet, but many years ago when we had a small house and several little kids Id use the Swiffer wet pads after every meal. Probably shouldnt have spent the money but it was a life saver. I got to know the family who bought our house and she asked me how I kept the floors so clean. Tons of money wasted on a disposal product but it made homemaking easier.

Alas, it looks like I’ll never be happy. My own theory is that if you neglect housecleaning, entropy will increase until it reaches a point of stasis and will never get worse. If you can live comfortably at that point you’ll never have to clean again.

We have Walter come twice a week to vacuum the house. Walter is a robot. He’s always happy. : )

I have a housekeeper, a gardener, and a pool guy. I don’t do any of that stuff and haven’t for over 10 years. I hated doing it before that and as long as I live in a house that needs it all I’ll hire it done.
We also have a handyman and a plumber since hubby always hated doing that stuff.
We keep the house up in between housekeeper visits but do nothing harder than that.
