Signing this bill was a foregone conclusion as soon as congress raised the spending caps in early February and Trump approved them.
Yeah, I get the military thing but it sounded to me like that too was a compromise.
Ever notice that all these gov’t shutdown/pass the budget, pass the CR happen just before a holiday or scheduled break when these folks in WDC are all looking to get out of town? Have to get it done and then fly out of there.
It was this kind of Washington swamp activity that I thought DJT was going to put an end to. He got schooled big time today. So disappointed here.
Is the armchair, eye-rolling, hand-wringing, bashing type quarterbacking here beginning to annoy you? The filthy sewer that is D.C. (a district-not even a damn state)has been screwing us for many, many years. It’s my understanding that this budget runs until September. Trump should have congress start working on the next spending bill when they return from their vacation that starts today.
I’m not happy that he signed it, but I know that our military needs the budget in this Bill. The Dems and Repubs stuffed this Bill with whatever they wanted because they knew his hands would be tied on the military funding issue. He’s damned if he does, and damned if he doesn’t.
I took it as he was talking about what was in the Bill. When he said that, I had hopes he was going to veto it. But then when he started talking about the military budget, I knew he would sign it.

He got duped on amnesty and got our soldiers killed in Lebanon but the rest all came after him compliments the voters.
My personal opinion is that you don't make threats unless you are willing to follow through.
Right! I thought he’d Veto it and blow their minds having made then come back to Washington to work with “Him”. I thought he was a top rate executive and here he caves to the Board! And he complained about the deal and signed the deal anyway. Art my arse!
I need to verify it but someone posted on another thread that Trump had previously said the last time he signed one of these bills that he would not sign another.

I truly don’t understand why some people worship Pence and regard him as some kind of Warrior.
The fact that he posted that tweet at the 11th hour seems to suggest Trump realized his base was up in arms over this bill and he panicked.

Unlike congress who passed this ‘pig in a porkulus’ bill he should read it before he decides to sign it, or to veto it...
I’ve searched for any similar statements by him from the past, and came up empty handed.

Also, Tweets stating that Mattis called him today and told him the military needed the funds.
I don’t like this bill at all but I don’t see where President Trump had much of a choice if he wants to protect the US from a-holes like North Korea, Iran and others. This bill is for 6 months and I hope we don’t see another.
I sleep better at night knowing President Trump is behind the wheel. I trust him to do the right thing.
He could have channeled Nancy Reagan and just said “No”.
