A family is suing a Michigan school district after a group of kindergarteners allegedly sodomized their child and recorded the assault on an iPad.

The federal lawsuit, filed this week against the Grandville School District, claims that nearly four years ago, the district failed to intervene when five-year-old “Jimmy Doe” of Century Park Learning Center in Wyoming, Michigan was taken to the “mudroom” and was forcibly touched, sodomized, and photographed by classmates.

The lawsuit specifically names the victim's kindergarten teacher Hillary Hubert, former Grandville School district superintendent Ron Caniff, current superintendent Roger Bearup, assistant superintendent Scott Merkel, and the school’s Principal Tonia Shoup as having failed to protect the boy or hold his alleged tormenters accountable.

You’ll probably hear his real name on TV after he is caught for horrific crimes, but we truly have no systemic answer on how to deal with such children. This problem is much more widespread than most people know. The stories only hit the press for a few days and are usurped by the next Stormy Daniels. Abnormal psychology is so aberrant that most people cannot imagine it, much less understand. That desire to understand is in itself a large part of the problem. We don’t need to understand these people; we need to recognize them and take protective action.

“Barbarian” cultures are often criticized for their excessive punishments, but many could teach us a few things about protecting society. Our system not only allows these behaviors, it enables the perpetrators to progress to larger crimes. The question isn’t whether you’d incarcerate or kill a young Dahmer; it’s why not?

In earlier times, the town fathers would get together and kill such a creature. Or one of them would do it and others would look away.

Understood that it was needed to protect and preserve the community.

That’s not necessarily the case. Schools for young children (preschool through kindergarten) are often called learning centers as well.

This is horrific. But I’m not surprised considering what kids are exposed to.

Yes, busing destroyed the very good public schools we had here in So Cal. It cost $1M a year just for the buses - could that have been spent on, oh, teachers or equipment or fixing the schools? What it did was create an entire industry of very good private schools where kids actually could get a good education and remain safe. Novel concept.

Now the leftie teachers unions, the janitors who get Teamsters Union wages and retirement, and the school grounds which are totally closed to public use, get all the funding to use for the remaining students. And they think that ‘more money’ is the cure? Not by a long shot.

Chilling story, antidis, but I am not surprised. You cannot imagine it until you see it, and folks think you are nuts and cynical if you mention it. Nevertheless, it exists. Where I did student teaching, before I had my own classroom, I was pretty sure the 2nd graders were dealing drugs out on the playground. This was NOT inner city either, just a kind of crummy ‘burb in Los Angeles.

1. No. “Sex” “education” does not belong in K-6 education, anywhere for any reason.

2. No. Sexually related political agendas should not have a place in school curriculum.

3. No. Certain kinds of TV shows, or content in TV shows do not belong on television, broadcast, cable or otherwise before certain hours of the night; some not even before 10PM.

4. No. The inclusion of many sexual innuendos and risque behaviors that should never have been permitted to graduate DOWN into films directed to children, which includes animated films. That trend must be reversed.

4. No. Print advertising should not be unrestricted by content to any and every publication, no matter the audience for that publication. Certain kinds of ads and certain kinds of content in ads should be “age restricted” from publications intended for minors.

5. Yes. The .xxx classification should be required for any kind of porn site on the Internet, and additionally, a .adu classification should be required for any website that may not be pornographic but is considered content “for adults only”. Also, all Internet browsers should have settings that make it possible to block all .xxx and/or all .adu sites, without needing individual sites listed. Outfits like YouTube could need to have more than one domain, with some content not available on the .com site.

There have been many aspects of the 60s social “revolutions” where the baby was thrown out with the bath water. Among them was the increasing dismissal and destruction of innocence.

Maintaining innocence is not about maintaining ignorance. Innocence is necessary for healthy human development, requiring knowledge and education to be centered on the level of maturity - physical, emotional, mental - needed to handle a topic in a confident way.

It amazes me that I can put on Netflix and watch numerous shows depicting real-life psychopaths, and yet people still maintain their normalcy bias when faced with such a person in real life. I cry when I see all the posts about how the families or caretakers of murderers are somehow responsible for the crimes.

Having worked in adoption and social-work for years (until I could no longer take anymore), I met hundreds of parents who tried everything to get help without any success. Most end up divorced; many are murdered by their own “children.” All of them are victims of narcissistic psychopaths who isolate them from all support, manipulate “professionals” with the skill of Bach playing a piano, and pervert the social service and justice systems for their own purposes. Until you’ve seen it firsthand, you cannot imagine the devastation wreaked by these individuals.

As a Christian, I believe it is a spiritual battle and one that cannot be won by science and psychology. There are, of course, persons with organic brain disorders and numerous physiological illnesses which respond to traditional medicine, but truly evil people defy any attempt at logic. They exude such a malevolent spirit that even the most secular observers to question their own (lack of) belief. From my perspective, only divine intervention could make any difference, but one cannot even mention such an approach in our wonderful system.

I confess I am cynical and may have some PTSD, but I know how these individuals operate. Reflexive legislation and student marches aren’t gonna stop them. They are predators who use every means to carry out their sadistic acts. Only swift and certain confinement or capital punishment will have any effect—and even that only effectively stops that individual; psychopaths are not swayed by any consequence that happens to any other person.

Not only on the tube, but everywhere. Just came from the library. Wanted a good fiction book to read and a couple to listen to while driving.

Almost every stinking book was about death by murder or torture and murder with horrific details.

Now there are wonderful writers who write above the horror, recently I read: All the light that is not seen and the author wrote about difficult topics of war and betrayal with grace. But most of the books out there in fiction are about murder. I love a good PD James once in a while but....

I assume the so-called ‘rape culture’ started with ‘Rum Sodomy and the Lash’ of the British Navy. Sad to see it is still around, for 5 years-olds :(
